Ingredients
Directions
Add the oats to a food processor and blend until a mealy consistency.
If planning to use lavender buds, grind them in a coffee or spice grinder until they’re a powder consistency.
Combine the ground oats, lavender buds (if using), almond meal, and flaxseed meal in a mason jar or clean reusable skin care jar. Place the lid on the jar and shake until all the ingredients are combined.
Store in the refrigerator or in a cool dark place until ready to use.
To use: Add 2 tablespoons of the mixture to a small bowl with enough water to form a paste.
Spread the DIY facial scrub over your skin, allowing it to sit for about 5 minutes. Then gently rub it off with clean hands or a gentle cloth.
Chef's Notes
Substitutions
In place of almond meal try coffee grounds.
Use dried rose petals or dried mint leaves in place of lavender buds.
Instead of flowers or herbs to offer scent, consider using dried blueberry powder or grinding freeze-dried berries. Powdered berries can offer both a berry scent and antioxidant power.
Storage
Store your DIY facial scrub at room temperature in a cool dark place for up to one month or an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three months.
