Ingredients
12 oz water
1 bag of herbal chamomile tea (or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf)
1 tsp fresh ginger (minced)
1 tsp dried fennel seeds
1 lemon wedge (optional)
Directions
1Boil the water in a small stovetop pot or tea kettle.
2Place the chamomile tea bag in a 12–16-ounce mug. (If using loose-leaf tea, include it with the other ingredients in Step 3.)
3Place the fresh ginger and fennel seeds in a tea strainer, then place it in the mug.
4Pour the boiling water into the mug. Allow the chamomile ginger tea to steep for 5–7 minutes, or up to 10 minutes for a stronger flavor.
5Remove the tea bag and strainer, squeeze in the lemon wedge if desired, and enjoy!
Chef's Notes
Substitutions
In place of chamomile, try lemon balm.
In place of fennel seeds, try caraway seeds.
In place of fresh ginger, try ¼–½ teaspoon of ground ginger depending on how much spice you can tolerate.
Prep Ahead
You can steep the tea in a jar and save it for later.
Storage
Store leftover tea in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
