Boil the water in a small stovetop pot or tea kettle.
Place the chamomile tea bag in a 12–16-ounce mug. (If using loose-leaf tea, include it with the other ingredients in Step 3.)
Place the fresh ginger and fennel seeds in a tea strainer, then place it in the mug.
Pour the boiling water into the mug. Allow the chamomile ginger tea to steep for 5–7 minutes, or up to 10 minutes for a stronger flavor.
Remove the tea bag and strainer, squeeze in the lemon wedge if desired, and enjoy!
Chef's Notes
Substitutions
In place of chamomile, try lemon balm.
In place of fennel seeds, try caraway seeds.
In place of fresh ginger, try ¼–½ teaspoon of ground ginger depending on how much spice you can tolerate.
Prep Ahead
You can steep the tea in a jar and save it for later.
Storage
Store leftover tea in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
