Honoring John Robbins: A Life Dedicated to Compassion and to Love

headshot of John Robbins

John Robbins (1947–2025) transformed the way we think about food when he connected our dietary choices not only to our health, but also to the well-being of the planet and all its creatures. His courage, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to truth helped to spark a movement that inspired and improved the lives of millions.

Through his numerous best-selling books, keynote presentations, interviews, and Food Revolution Summits, John’s groundbreaking advocacy and his powerful voice for compassion and respect for life didn’t just shift perceptions — it ignited positive action around the globe. His message reached policymakers, scientists, doctors, and millions of individuals — reshaping habits, policies, and perspectives on what it means to truly nourish ourselves and the world.

For more than four decades, John championed healthy, ethical, sustainable food for all. His books, including Diet for a New America, The Food Revolution, and Reclaiming Our Health, became foundational texts in the movement for conscious eating, empowering people to reclaim their health and rethink their choices.

With his son, Ocean, he founded the million-member Food Revolution Network and the non-profit Food Revolution Alliance.

In June of 2025, John Robbins died peacefully in his home from complications of post-polio syndrome — surrounded by his closest loved ones. Though John’s physical life has ended, his impact lives on in the love we share, the choices we make, and the movement he inspired.

John’s work was about food, and so much more, including justice, love, and the deep interconnection of all living beings. His legacy reminds us that every meal is an opportunity to nourish not just ourselves, but the world we wish to create. Every time we choose real, local, ethical, sustainable, healthy, fair trade, organic, and plant-based foods; every time we bring our lives and our actions into alignment with our values; every time we contribute to a world with less pain and more love; we’re helping to carry his legacy forward.

For doing the kind of things that are going to help humanity continue to rise towards our highest collective virtues. Your life is one that I think colossally will continue.”

— Senator Cory Booker

“One of the most important things that John Robbins has taught me is that we can not only live well through compassion and kindness and taking care of our health, but we live better. It’s because of his message and his book that I’m alive today — I became vegetarian, then plant‑based, and found my own path to wellness. That’s the legacy John has — he helps all of us become more so we can have a greater impact.”

— Brooke Goldner Tadlock, MD

“John Robbins had the guts to walk away from a family fortune to do what’s right. He dedicated his life to saving other people’s health and teaching that food choices are the most powerful decisions we make. So let’s honor him and these principles — let’s wake up, take control of our own health, read his books, spread his message. Remember, what you put on your plate determines what the world will be like tomorrow.”

— Tony Robbins

A Legacy of Love and Service

John Robbins was a best-selling author, influential speaker, and one of the most respected voices in food and health advocacy. His work has transformed the way millions of people think about food, health, and sustainability, inspiring generations to make choices that nourish both their own well-being and that of the planet.

John was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many loved ones who will grieve his passing, treasure his memory, uphold his legacy, and carry him always in their hearts.

Born into the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire, John was once the heir apparent to a fortune built on 31 flavors. But rather than follow the path of wealth and corporate leadership laid before him, he chose to forge his own rocky road — one guided by conscience, ethics, and a deep desire to contribute to a healthier world. In a defining moment of his life, he walked away from the family business, turning his back on financial security to pursue a life dedicated to truth, health, and being of service to others. His decision shocked many, but it was a choice rooted in integrity — one that would shape his life’s work and inspire millions.

John’s seminal book, Diet for a New America, published in 1987, was a wake-up call that helped ignite the modern food revolution. The book exposed the devastating impact of industrialized food production on human health, animal welfare, and the environment. It challenged deeply ingrained dietary norms and encouraged a shift toward a more plant-forward, sustainable way of eating. The book became a classic, selling more than a million copies and being translated into more than 31 languages. It also earned John a Pulitzer nomination and widespread recognition as a leader in the movement for healthy and conscious living.

In the decades following, John continued to inspire and educate through his books, including The Food Revolution, Healthy at 100, and Reclaiming Our Health. His writings helped shape public discourse around nutrition, wellness, and ethical consumerism, often years ahead of mainstream understanding.

John’s work has been featured in numerous major media outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time Magazine, and on Geraldo, Donahue, Today, and Oprah. He was invited to speak at global conferences hosted by organizations like the United Nations, Physicians for Social Responsibility, and UNICEF, where his insights on food and sustainability have influenced policymakers, scientists, and thought leaders alike. His remarkable journey is also the subject of the 2024 documentary Love Over Money, which chronicles his bold decision to leave Baskin-Robbins for a tiny cabin in the woods. Little did he know that in time, he would become a global leader in the food revolution movement.

John’s impact extends beyond his books, films, and public speaking. As a humanitarian and board member of numerous nonprofit organizations, John worked to combat food insecurity, improve health and well-being in underprivileged communities, and raise awareness about factory farming’s impact on human health, animal welfare, and the health of our planet. His advocacy earned him numerous honors and awards, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential voices in the fight for a better food future.

John also helped to ignite the modern “health food” movement, influencing generations of eaters, activists, and changemakers, from doctors and researchers to everyday individuals seeking to improve their health and make more ethical choices. His work has played a role in shaping public policy, scientific research, and cultural attitudes toward food and health.

John’s journey was not without its challenges. At the age of five, he contracted polio, a disease that left him unable to walk. Doctors were uncertain whether he would ever regain full mobility. Through perseverance, a commitment to healing, and an active lifestyle, he defied expectations — eventually not only walking but becoming a marathon runner, mountain climber, and triathlete. For decades, he embodied the vitality that he championed in his work, demonstrating the incredible potential of the human body when given the right nourishment and care.

More than six decades later, in 2019, John began experiencing symptoms of post-polio syndrome (PPS), a condition that can emerge in polio survivors later in life, affecting mobility, energy levels, and overall function. He bravely shared his experience in this video. While PPS typically manifests 15 to 40 years after the initial polio infection, John defied the odds, maintaining exceptional health for more than 65 years — far longer than medical experts would have predicted. His vibrant longevity led post-polio specialists to believe that his decades of healthy living, plant-based nutrition, and commitment to movement likely played a significant role in delaying the onset of PPS.

PPS never diminished John’s passion or dedication to the work he loved. Until his passing, he continued to share his knowledge and wisdom, proving that strength is not just about physical ability — it’s about resilience, service, and love. His journey stands as a testament to the profound influence our daily choices can have, not only in preventing disease but also in shaping the quality of our lives, even in the face of adversity.

Through his profound dedication to health, justice, and sustainability, John lived a life of meaning and purpose. And now, the torch he carried is in all of our hands.

Welcome to this visual journey through John’s life — from his childhood and his bold decision to walk away from the Baskin-Robbins empire, to his decades as a best-selling author and global advocate for food justice, all while being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family as deeply as his mission.

And if you want to understand more fully why and how John walked away from Baskin-Robbins, here’s a link to the documentary, Love Over Money, featuring John’s intimate retelling of how his message to the world ended up saving his own father’s life.

John in His Own Words

“To all who long for a world with less pain and more love, and to all who are doing what you can to make a difference—thank you. You have been an inspiration to me. And now, I hope I can offer something in return.

If you feel a spark of hope, a sense of possibility, I want to encourage you: Hold onto it. Nurture it. Let it take root in your life. Share it with others who may need it, just as I have sought to share my own hope with you.

And if you are struggling—whether with a challenge no diet or medicine can cure, or with the weight of the world’s pain—please know that I am with you. I offer you my heart, my understanding, and my love. You are not alone.

None of us know how much time we have left in these bodies. But what I do know is this: Every moment you have is precious. Every choice you make matters. Each act of kindness, each moment of integrity, each step you take toward aligning your life with your values—it all counts. It nourishes your own well-being, and it ripples out into the world in ways you may never fully see.

I have spent my life working for a world where food is a source of nourishment, not suffering. A world where we recognize that our health is inseparable from the health of the planet, and that all life matters. And now, I pass the torch to you.

I near the end of my time in this world with a heart full of gratitude—for the privilege of being part of this movement, for the joy of walking this path, and most of all, for each of you. The work continues now in your hands, in your choices, in your voice, and in your love.

I send you my deepest wishes for healing, for joy, and for peace—for you, for those you hold dear, and for our precious and hurting world.

And now, I leave you with the prayer that has guided my life, my work, and my hope for our shared future. It is short and simple, yet it carries all that I hold in my heart:

May all be fed.

May all be healed.

May all be loved.”

Support John’s Legacy

Food Revolution Alliance – Expanding a Movement, Establishing a Legacy

To carry John’s legacy forward, the Robbins family co-founded a nonprofit organization, Food Revolution Alliance, to be a living embodiment of the values he championed: love, justice, and integrity. Food Revolution Alliance builds upon the foundation laid by Food Revolution Network, expanding John’s legacy into new spheres of policy, advocacy, and community empowerment — while Food Revolution Network continues the work of educating and inspiring millions each year. This new nonprofit exists to advance the systemic transformation he advanced for more than four decades: a world where healthy, ethical, and sustainable food is available to all, and where the choices we make about food nourish our bodies, uplift our communities, and help heal our planet.

We are profoundly grateful that Robyn O’Brien has stepped forward to serve as the founding Executive Director of Food Revolution Alliance. Robyn is one of the most trusted and visionary leaders in the food movement today. A best-selling author and Forbes Impact 50 honoree, she has worked at the highest levels of the food, agriculture, and finance sectors to create scalable, values-aligned impact. Her ability to build bridges across political, cultural, and economic divides is extraordinary, and she brings a rare combination of strategic brilliance, fierce compassion, and moral courage to everything she does. Like John, Robyn has dedicated her life and work to the health of people and the planet, and we are honored to have her guiding this next expression of the food revolution movement.

Food Revolution Alliance will create positive momentum and change in the food industry through masterminds, collaborative initiatives, and shared campaigns. The organization will uplift and connect the changemakers who are working across the country — and the globe — for a more just and sustainable food future. In time, the Alliance will expand into storytelling and media production, including filmmaking and digital content that amplifies voices of hope, innovation, and courage in the food movement — voices that too often go unheard but are leading the way to a more healthy, sustainable, and compassionate world.

Your contribution to Food Revolution Alliance helps bring John’s legacy and vision to life in real and lasting ways. It supports a future where all people have access to food that heals, not harms. A future where love, justice, and integrity are baked into the systems that shape what ends up on our plates. If you are moved to honor John’s memory, please consider giving generously. Together, we can ensure that his legacy not only lives on — but grows stronger with every passing year.

Words from John’s son, Ocean

“My dad’s life was defined by a deep and abiding love — for people, for animals, and for our planet. That love gave him the strength to walk away from an ice cream empire, to challenge the status quo, and to advocate for a world where health and compassion go hand in hand. His work awakened millions to the power of mindful eating and natural healing, and his legacy will continue to inspire change for generations to come.

My dad taught us that food is far more than sustenance — it’s a powerful tool for healing our bodies, our communities, and our world. While his passing leaves an ache in my heart, I am profoundly grateful for all he shared with me, our family, and the countless lives he touched. His legacy lives on in every thoughtful meal, every courageous challenge to the norm, and every step we take toward a more compassionate and vibrant future. I will honor him by continuing his work, and I invite you to join me on this enduring journey.”

An Invitation To Share

We know many hearts are grieving, and many lives have been touched by John’s life and work. As we come together to honor his memory, we invite you to share your reflections, memories, grief, gratitude, celebrations, and prayers here.

  • Dear Ocean and Family: Beyond This Place

Nobody wanted him to go beyond this place

    Away

    from hugs and spring’s promise

    from birthday candles and get-togethers

    from sunshine and smiles

Away from the circle of family and friends …

Away from the love to a place unseen and unknown.

And nobody wanted him to suffer,

    Or lose touch,

    or feel lost.

So we treasure his life and the gifts he gave,

And feel the sadness left by his move

    Away

    to the place Beyond.

You’re in the best of Hands, & in all our hearts.

  • Thank you for the opportunity to share our thanks for the work of John Robbins. We were lucky to chance upon the Food Revolution Network and are ever grateful. Our deep condolences to Ocean and all John’s family.

  • Dear Ocean and family, I am so sorry to hear about your father’s passing. After joining the Food revolution Summit in 2023 I signed up for the Plant Power course, and loved watching your father’s lesson there. I then bought Diet for a New America and devoured it. I shall be thinking of you and your family. All the best, warm regards, Marja (the Netherlands)

  • Thank you to John’s loving family for this very touching memorial. His work has influenced me and millions, bringing awareness to live a more compassionate life, for all life. I bought Diet for a New America when it came out in the 80’s and the precious animal stories he shared in the beginning of the book gave me a deeper awareness of the interconnection of all species and our relationship to the great web of life. Thank you and bless you John ❤

  • Dear Ocean,

I am so grateful to him, to his family, to his friends, to those he worked with – and I now follow. The plant-based food revolution affected me deeply. • An inspirational human, whose enthusiasm for life and his sage guidance in how to live it fully and healthily will continue to shape many lives beyond his own.
    Thank you xx

  • I was profoundly saddened to see the email with this news. Ocean, it was evident to me the first time I saw you and your Father presenting together in the Summit many years ago that you were very close and shared a special bond. The Food Revolution Network has changed my life. John was a pioneer who lived his vision. His spirit will live on and he will always be with you, looking down, so proud. I wish you and your family peace and healing in time.

    Rest in Peace, John.

  • Dear Ocean, dear Robbins family,
I was devastated to receive the news of John’s passing. I never thought that it would be possible to feel so much grief and such a profound sense of loss over someone I have never met in person. However, I loved all his books, the food revolution summit and his video messages on Plant-based-and Thriving, and I am so happy I enrolled in the program. That way I can see them time and time again.
My first contact with your wonderful work, dear John, was the book “The food revolution”. I read it cover to cover in the space of only a few days. It helped me immensely on my previously somewhat rocky road to my own food revolution. I bought it several times after that in German for my friends who could not read English, and it inspired so many of them.
My thoughts and good wishes are with you at these difficult times, dear Robbins family. His light will shine on in your lives as in the lives and hearts of many people all over the world. I feel honoured to have met John – albeit from a distance.

  • I was introduced to the work of Dr Brooke Goldner through John. It changed my life. Thank you so much John, and Ocean too, for your love and wonderful mission on this earth. Sending condolences and love to John’s family and friends at this very sad time from Susan, in Tasmania

  • Dear Robbins Family,
You have lost someone who has been a very present part of your lives. I send condolences and wishes that the love you all shared with him and the love of his friends, sustains you as you move forward with your grief.

For me, John Robbins was a more distant presence until I started following the Food Revolution Network. I worked at a Natural Foods Restaurant, the Main Course at UW Madison, a collective, that often used recipes inspired by his network of folks. I was part of Food Co-ops, and later a community share farm all of them leading to a more plant based life based on justice, planet health, and conscious living. I heard about his work, was inspired to do more, think more about the choices I made. I have been a vegetarian for over 45 years, but over time dairy and eggs have become a smaller part of my diet, and the dairy and eggs I do eat are vastly different than what I consumed in the past. Much of this change has been driven by the community of knowledge, passion, and commitment inspired by your father, grandfather, and husband. May the memory of John Robbins continue to inspire an ever better world, and may it always be a blessing.

  • Dear Robbins’ Family,

Words are not enough to express my deepest gratitude, and appreciation to John’s education, wisdom and the courage to speak the truth about the spirit of humanity. John has taught me about the importance of nutrition, healthy foods choice, and how to live a happier life. He is such a great part of contribution to my wellbeing and happiness.

Thank you, John, for being such an honorable, compassionate, and loving educator. Though I am sad for John’s passing, the BEST way for me to honor John’s legacy is to continue his great torch that is being passing into our hands, as John has shared in his speech of Food Revolution of 2025 Summit.

Thank you for John being a heart of the light of the spirit✨.

My heart and prayers are with you.

    Gratitude and Love,
    Briseis❤️

  • John and Ocean seem like friends to me. Loads of times I would think of a food/health question over the past few years after I had had the good luck to discover their work, and would think “I wonder what John and Ocean would say” and I’d check, and would always find an answer on their amazing and expansive website. I have been so inspired by the journey of this wonderful, kind human being and learned so much from him and from Ocean. All love and gentle thoughts. XXX

  • John was such a decent, humble human being who was willing to serve the higher good in so many ways. I will miss his presence in this world.

  • A wonderful person to have left the world in a better place.

  • I am so sorry… he was a truly wonderful man – an inspiration to us all. His spirit will live on…
    Hazel

  • I have been profoundly blessed by John & Ocean’s leadership in the FRN. Always look forward to the annual summit and really missed John this year! Praying for you, Ocean, and your family as you continue to carry forth your dad’s vision. May God comfort you in His love & grace and give you joy-filled memories.

  • I am so so sad to hear this news. While I assumed John’s passing was approaching, I did not expect it so soon. Words cannot express the love and deep gratitude I feel for John’s life, love, values, character and example. I am so honored to be a part of the revolution as an FRN certified plant-based coach and hope Ocean knows he’s not carrying the torch alone! ❤️
Til we meet again at Jesus’ feet, dear friend.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

  • Wow…..I was just shocked to learn of John’s passing! What an incredible human being…..his books inspired me to become a vegetarian many moons ago! Thank you, John, for following your own inner compass. Your courage and love were contagious and will continue to inspire generations to come. You were and are a Hero of Heroes. Blessings.

  • Deep appreciation and gratitude to you, John, for your steady and compassionate (virtual) presence on my personal plant-based life journey. My heart is with your family and friends in this time of adjustment.

  • My deepest gratitude for this kind man who made our world a so much better place. My condolences to his family.

  • I was so sorry to hear of my beloved John Robbins’ passing away, and I would love to present my deepest condolences to you dear Ocean, his family, the FRN community (myself included), the whole plant based movement & actually to the whole world.
May his beautiful soul rest in peace.Praying for abundant mercy, great rewards, true comfort & eternal joy for his soul, and may God give you patience, console & comfort you & fill your heart with his peace.
Last year, i started writing a poem about FRN.Here are the first few lines:
On my life journey I received a gift.
FRN community is what I meant !
The wisdom of John & his overflowing love…
The life energy he omits is beyond & above…
As soon as I listen to his deep words…
I feel healthy, vibrant & on my toes …
No words can be enough to describe this great amazing human. His selflessness, kindness & generosity are so clear.
Great people are the most humble & John’s humility reflected his greatness. His light is still shining. The world will always be a better place because of him. His good works are non ending, coz he made it in such a brilliant way that it transcend himself & his limited time on earth. He is a legend. He presented his best gifts to humanity. I consider him a true saint.
Even his voice felt like an embodiment of love.
Many are alive today, by the grace of God, because of his work, & nothing dead can support life, so I believe he is still alive.
Just honoring his precious life & keeping his legacy is worth all the effort done to accomplish his mission.
Thank God for his wonderful extension, Ocean ❤️🙏
On a personal level; since I knew John through FRN, he became my favorite person on this planet. I was hoping to meet him one day, to kiss his forehead & his hands & cook him a plant based meal as a fruit of his works, but I’m sure that love transcends the limits of place & time & that my gratitude reached him.
I & my husband borrow his prayer before we eat “May all be fed, May all be healed, May all be loved”
I’m blessed, honored & privileged to have crossed paths with this man whom I dearly love, even if indirectly.
I think he won every battle he faced, but…
“The last enemy that will be destroyed is death” 1 Co 15:26
Nonetheless, meditating on his life, it reminded me of the following Bible verses :
+” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day” 2 Ti 4:7
+”His Lord said to him,’Well done, good & faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things…” Matthew 25:23
I hope he is now in less pain & more love ❤️

  • I will be forever grateful to the Food Revolution network and all the work done by John and Ocean. You have made the world a kinder place. I send my love. I read john’s first book way back in the 70’s and it profoundly impacted my life.

  • John Robbins transformed not only my diet but he transformed my entire way of thinking about myself and my relationship with plant earth. John was a man who not only taught but who truly embodied speaking truth to power.

John was heir to the Baskin Robbins empire. However, when as a university student he saw the way that the dairy cows on the farms were treated, he told his father that he didn’t want any part of this dirty business of violence and harm. He moved to an island off of Canada where he and his wife Deo lived for about 10 years. In his own words, “We knew what to say no to, but we didn’t yet know what to say yes to.”

When he came back, he traveled to meat and dairy farms across the country and walked away with interviews, data and photographs of the unspeakable violence in the way the animals are treated. In his award-winning Diet for a New America, he revealed not only the pain and violence of animal agriculture but also the environmental impacts. This was 1987, long before everyone knew about climate change and long before the relationship had been established between what we eat, what we wear and what we buy and our rapidly dwindling water resources and food resources on the planet. John was the first one to bring the inextricable link between the meat industry and environmental destruction into the public eye.

I met John during my junior year at Stanford in 1991. I was 19. I had been a vegetarian already for four years and had not only read Diet for a New America several times cover to cover but had given copies to everyone I knew. After John’s lecture people lined up to get their books signed. I had not thought to bring my copy to the lecture but I lined up anyway. When I got to the front of the line, the only words that came out of my mouth were “Can I give you a hug?” “of course,” he said. After giving him a huge hug I said, “I want to be part of anything you do.” “Come volunteer with me this summer,” he said. I cancelled my summer plans and spent two months in the redwoods of Santa Cruz volunteering for his organization EarthSave and with his son Ocean who had just founded Youth for Environmental Sanity.

But John was so much more than a warrior for the environment , the animals and the planet. He was a warrior for truth and love. He showed how powerful simply standing in truth can be. He showed that truth without love isn’t effective at bringing change. Through that loving truth and truthful love he brought about a revolution in the way so many of us thought about eating.

But John’s legacy is about so much more than food. He showed us how to stand in truth. He showed us the power of love over money!

John dedicated his entire life to unearthing and then sharing the deepest truths around the meat industry, big pharma, longevity and so much of the way we are indoctrinated and brainwashed. He showed that we have the power to choose and to choose with love.

When John was five, in the 1940s, he contracted polio and, by God’s grace, healed and survived. But several years ago he discovered that he had Post Polio Syndrome and that he would lose first the use of his legs and then his life.

I’ve had the great blessing of seeing him several times during these last few years and although his body has gotten sicker, his mind has gotten even clearer. He embraced death with the same presence, the same openness and the same humble curiosity with which he embraced life. He showed us how to live consciously, and he showed us how to die consciously.

Today, as immigrants are torn from their families, as children are ripped out of parents’ arms by federal agents in my hometown of Los Angeles, as a California State Senator is thrown to the ground and handcuffed for asking a question in a press meet, as peaceful protestors are beaten and gassed in the streets I grew up in, I find myself even more acutely and painfully aware of the gaping hole in righteous leadership that John’s passing has created. I remember a political rally back in the 1990s where John took the stage right after a high-ranking California government official. The political leader had filled the audience with anger and outrage as catalysts for action. However, when John walked slowly and peacefully onto the stage, he said, “There is a lot of truth in this hall. But there is not a lot of love. Let’s see if we can bring some love into this hall.” May that power of truth meets love and love meets truth ripple outward and may it become the foundation from which we live, choose and rule.
John and Deo have a sign outside their home that says “May all be fed, May all be healed, May all be loved.” Today, that is my prayer and also responsibility to not only remember what John taught, but to embody what John taught.

  • Hearing of John’s passing saddens me but I take solace in the fact that his contributions changed my trajectory and so many others for the better. I felt seen because he spoke about wellness for all communities. He will be missed. Sending light and love to his family.

  • “If Love could have saved him, he never would have died.” Just had to buy all the books. Wish you sold the bundle.

  • We were fortunate to have seen your dad in Tempe, Az many years ago. We were motivated and excited to learn from his expertise. We still have his Diet for a New America book and have recommended it to many friends. He was an amazing inspiration and we are so very sad to learn of his passing.

  • The son & father Robbins team is doing an unbelievably outstanding job of helping the whole world get healthier with a convincing message. Because of you two, thousands will live longer and more importantly healthier. God shall always bless you & your families. Our heartfelt

  • My deepest condolences to the Robbins family. John was an absolute legend and pioneer. I discovered his work through FRN and was just incredibly struck by the level of knowledge that was shared, without judgement. It was as though we were being taken softly and safely into a journey toward re-educating ourselves to think outside of our S.A.D. diets and give more consideration that our health outcomes are something we can have a greater influence on by nourishing ourselves with kindness.
Thank you John, you have indeed left this world leaving an indelible mark that endures.
Now you climb all the mountains and trails and tend your garden in the ever after. The sky gained a new star to shine down on us this week. 💚

  • John Robbins was truly a beautiful human being and his son Ocean is very much like him.Thank you for your lives of goodness and your devoted efforts to make this world a much kinder and healthier place. I’m sure Ocean will carry on with this wonderful mission he and his dad have been working on.
    Thank you so much!!

  • I was a fan of John Robbins, as soon as Diet for a New America was published and I bought hundreds of copies to sell in my newly opened medical practice, right after residency in 1991. His words were profound and important, and our passions were aligned.
In the years and decades that followed I was lucky enough to know John, not just as an author and thought leader, but as a person. He was a mentor to me, in his kindness and his compassion. I looked up to him for his wisdom and moral strength. I always will. He was a special father to Ocean, but we all have benefited from his example and his thoughtfulness. He has shaped our thoughts and our lives, and he will always be in our heart.

  • John, you have left a legacy which will never fade away. Thank you. With great appreciation.

  • Dear Ocean.

I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. He was a good man who inspired so many, including me. He also did an amazing job passing on his legacy, not just to you, but to all of us. I have many of his interviews in my account that I will be listening to for the rest of my life.

My heart goes out to you and your family. It was quite obvious how close you were during the food revolution summits. I am grateful to all you, your dad and food revolution has done.

May you find peace during this difficult time.

    Cathy

  • Thank you, John Robbins for your hard work. Inspiring so many of us to eat and live better. Be kinder and caring. Thank you. Rest now in painfree Peace.

  • Such an amazing, spiritually evolved being – so beautiful, so loving and inspiring – certainly one of a kind. I never met him, but having seen him in videos and presentations, I felt such a close connection to this wonderful, wonderful rare being that I feel heartbroken. He has only left his body…
My love and heartfelt condolences for Ocean and the rest of his family.

  • My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. Food Revolution helped changed the way I thought about nutrition. I’m so grateful he shared his ideas and knowledge for so many years. Blessings.

  • Condolences and gratitude to the Ocean and his Family. The information and knowledge I have gained watching you and your dad work together on the food summit is information I will cherished forever. Rest in peace Mr Robbins.

  • Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved John Robbins. He was a true visionary whose passion for health and authenticity inspires me. Though I only just became acquainted with the Food Revolution (and John and Ocean) last year, I can already see how it has shaped my own journey toward whole-life living. The main and most profound lesson I’ve learned is that we must treat ourselves, each other, and the world around us with more love and compassion – as we would want to receive them. Many thanks, John Robbins. And thank you so much to the Robbins family for sharing both John and Ocean with us. Now may your beloved John rest in peace and his memory always be a blessing.

  • My deepest sympathy to the Robbins family. His life had a profound impact on my life after reading Diet For A New America in 1990. All of his books that I have read since then are filled with compassion, wisdom and hope – ideas that we can use more of in the world of today. His legacy lives on through all he touched, and to you, Ocean, who carries on connecting our personal health to the health of the planet. May all be fed, may all be loved.

  • The summer after high school before college, 1991, my friend showed me John Robbins books, Diet For A New World and Diet For A New America. They changed my life. I became a vegetarian, then vegan. Those books are still on my shelf, I refer to them often, talk about them, and show people all the time. Thank you !

  • To the Robbin’s Family: My heart and prayers are with you at this time.I thank him and the family for all the great information which has helped many people and I know he will look down and see these many sharing his wealth of information for many years to come.
My sincerest condolonces Ocean,I know you will greatly miss him

  • Because of John’s compelling, intelligent, ethical treatise, Diet for a New America, I became a vegetarian in 2006. It has elevated and transformed me and those around me. I am grateful for his work, his example, his courage and determination. I count myself fortunate to have lived on the planet at the same time as the shining human John was. To his family: you and John will be in my prayers. I send you my love and gratitude for you continuing his work.

  • John’s work deeply influenced and touched me. John’s light and legacy will continue to impact the world he so deeply loved. Extending my deepest sympathies to John’s dear family and to all who loved this very special man. Blessings for your journey, John, from my heart to your Spirit.

  • John Robins was a person you would think immortal. While he died physically, he definitely lives in our minds. My deep feelings for his Ocean and the rest of the family.

  • My sincere condolences.
In the late 80s I read “Diet for a New American” and it confirmed what my heart felt — after reading it I became a vegetarian. Thank you for your thoughtful, well-lived life and raising the awareness to have compassion and respect for the animals and Mother Earth. You have brought so many people together and your beautiful mission will continue to be shared. Blessing to the Robbins family. May you remain full of light and love.

  • While I did not know John personally I came to know him through his webinars and through his son Ocean. What an incredible man. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him. Someday.
Stay strong and stay the course Ocean. You will see dad again. You will be in my prayers.

  • Thank you John for your courage. Thank you for everything you did. Thank you for teaching us .

  • The world is a better place because of John Robbins. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that his legacy lives on in us all. It is now our responsibility to carry forward his messages of love and compassion for animals, each other, and the world we share.

  • John was such an inspiration to me. I always enjoyed the Food Revolution docuseries. He’ll be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

  • I bow my head to Ocean and this community ,as I feel honored for this invitation to share that I have experienced a deep sense of loss. When John was here, I felt a little safer, he inspired me and most of all I always felt like he was speaking directly to my soul, he had the capacity to talk to and see the real me. For this sense of love, I am finding a way to let go of the tears and experience the deep joy of knowing John Robbins.

  • Heartfelt sadness that John’s brave and life-changing journey has come to a close, and how wonderful to have his work available. Even though his family must have been disappointed at his choice to leave Baskin-Robbins, I hope they were proud of raising a man and leader with the courage of his convictions to explore a healthier world and become a gentle teacher and mentor to so many. Loved hearing his voice and clarity of expression. All the best to you as you carry on his groundbreaking work. God’s comfort, strength and inspiration be with you during this difficult time, and looking forward to continuing the healthy journey with you that your dad began.

  • Dear Ocean,

I am so sorry for your loss. John was a great man who left a beautiful legacy for his family and the world. When I read his book, Diet for a New America, over 35 years ago, it completely changed my life. I became vegetarian and for the first time was able to make the connection between caring for animals, caring for our environment, and caring for ourselves. He really helped me to see the oneness of all of life. I am deeply grateful. Sending prayers and blessings to you and yours.

  • I am cracked light open♥️ In times such as these, my purpose, my path was unveiled through a health crisis horror. The food revolution summit found me and sparked an awakening where the demon that was consuming me became the deity that has enlightened me. My fears about my body, the world, an out of control mess . John, Ocean, every person at FRN showed me how all healing is connected and there is one solution for all that ails us. Eat Plants! I am so honored to be a part of this community and a ray of your light. I feel you everywhere today in the beauty of life itself. May we all do the thing, be the being we are here to be . I know you’ll be here with us in this“tsunami” of love we are born to bring into the times they are a changing🙏♥️

I feel so grateful and blessed to be a part of this community and to have learned so much from John. After hearing the news of John’s passing, I decided to watch the Love Over Money documentary again today, as a way to grieve and honor him. I can feel deep within my being the love that John expressed in countless ways. And how amazing and beautiful it is, that as a result of John’s lifelong work, I have had the opportunity to train as one of FRN’s certified coaches–this has been a true turning point in my life. I feel so honored to carry on John’s legacy, not only as a coach but also as a mother, as a wife, as a daughter, as a friend, and as a fellow human being. Less pain, more love.

  • Heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends. John and the Food Revolution Network inspired me to make healthy food choices that benefit me and the planet, thank you. Rest in peace .

  • John was a force of nature, a literal titan of compassion and consciousness. He and his book “Diet for a New America” woke me and an entire generation up when not many were exploring the territory of factory farming and subsequent impacts on the planet and human-beings. I had the honor of first meeting him in person when he was on a book tour and spoke at our colloquium series at my college in the late 80’s. I was 18 at that time. His work and delivery of the message had a profound impact on my life and started me on a life-long adventure of healthy eating, awareness and wellness. I owe so much to him. EarthSave in Santa Cruz was a favorite volunteer activity and John and his family would sometimes visit Dharma’s (vegetarian restaurant in Capitola) to eat and I would visit with him there as well. John’s work and legacy will continue to blossom and grow into perpetuity through Ocean and all the lives that he touched. We will miss you so much and also take peace in knowing that you are on to higher and brighter worlds. Thank you for what you gave us in this one. We love you. My deepest condolences to you and your family, Ocean.

  • Diet for a New America convinced me to go from vegetarian to vegan more than 30 years ago. Thank you forever for your contributions to our world, John Robbins. You made such an impact; a life well-lived!

  • So sorry to hear about your loss, a truly great man, who cared deeply about people and animals. Sending my sympathies and respect.

  • Funny, I was on my to do an errand, in the town where I live 2days ago. I turned around and there was the Baskin & Robbins ice cream store in the same spot where it has been for the last 12 years plus. I thought about John and the interview I recently saw with father and son on FRN. He was someone I admired a
    lot .
My regards to his family. He left GOOD memories.

    Lovingly

  • I am so very sorry for your loss, John’s passing is felt by us all. I am sending light and love to the Robbin’s family

  • heartfelt condolences to Robbins family. A deep gratitude to Mr. John Robbins a life time devotion to his work.

  • Reading Diet for a New America opened my eyes to the disconnect between my diet and my deep love for animals: I went vegetarian on the spot then later vegan. His beautiful voice during interviews on the Food Revolution Summit always felt like a soothing balm in an increasingly turbulent and frightening world and gave me hope for a better future. His work and memory will live on in the work I do towards a more compassionate world and future for us all. You will be missed John.

  • Ps.116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones.” Praying for your family as you walk through this time of grieving. John will long be remembered and appreciated for his dedication.

  • John’s legacy will live for many more generations to come. Thank you John.
My heartfelt condolences to Ocean and John’s family. God bless you.

  • Thanks Sierra,
EarthSave was a turning point for me also.

Sending you whale and dolphin love from Hawai’i!!

    Gordon LaBedz

  • Thinking of you and your family with love, I share this quote: “Life-to-life ties forged in this present existence are not severed or extinguished by death. Though they may be invisible . . .these connections endure eternally. With this deep conviction, tears of sorrow will eventually turn into tears of fresh commitment. Surviving family members . . . [can] gain the courage and energy to live to the fullest not only for themselves but for the deceased – striving not as mere ‘survivors’ but as ‘successors’ who share and carry on the deceased’s aspirations.” – Daisaku Ikeda

  • I’ve being a vegetarian for around 36 years and a vegan for maybe 15 years. Although I had thought about following a vegetarian diet when I was a child and a young adult, it was John Robbin’s Diet for a New America, that inspired me to finally make the change. I’ll always be indebted to Mr. Robbins for writing the book that helped me to change my life for the better. Many members of my family have also turned vegetarian and I like to think that I’m at least partially responsible for that as well so thank you, John.

  • I appreciate you sharing such an intimate moment of your life with others. Although I haven’t the finances to contribute, I do send you my deepest condolences. The greatest gift your dad and mom ever received was you, Ocean. Your dad has past on to you the precious lessons of honesty and integrity that no doubt you have past on to your children. The sadness you feel now is for a time, but your memories and lessons he instilled in you will remain for a lifetime. Since I am musically inclined I’d like to leave you with the song “Oh very young” by Cat Stevens

  • Sincere condolences to the Robbins family. John’s love and work will live on through you. I am only one of many impacted by him. My life and the world is richer for having him in it.

  • With deep gratitude for John’s inspiration, dedication and encouragement. And to Ocean for continuing his father’s work.

  • John wasn’t just a giant in the food & nutrition revolution, he is a giant in his integrity, his courage & humanity.
    Thank you John.
My deepest sympathy to Ocean, to all of John’s family & the team at Food Revolution Network. May your journeys be blessed. Thank you.

  • This world has lost a tremendous soul with the loss of John. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but I felt like I knew him. You could feel his soul when he spoke and we’re all the better for it. I thank you, John, for standing by what you believed in and making this world a better place. I shall honor you by doing the same. I pray that he has been reunited with loved ones, and especially his childhood cat “Licorice”, whose story I will never forget. My sincere condolences to all the Robbins family. May you have peace and comfort. “Less pain, more Love”, always….

  • My deepest condolences to you and your family. I have been following your Dad for the past ten years. I watched the Food Revolution Summits and learned so much. I loved listening to him speak. He seemed like a very kind, loving and compassionate man. He will be missed but always be remembered. Thank you for sharing

  • All I can say is “thank you” for all that you taught us as humans to aspire to in compassion and love.

  • Rest in peace in paradise, John. You lived a remarkable life and you worked so much to help people eat better and to save our planet from the terrible cruel factory farms. If people lived as you recommended, there would be enough food and water for everyone and a lot of land could return to the wild. Plant based eating is the answer and thank you for living such an amazing magnificent life of compassion and caring, you helped so many people with your wisdom and you lit a torch that will never go out.

  • My true heartfelt condolences, 😞
Sending love to you and your famIly at this sad time. John Robbins was an amazing human and an inspiration to millions. He stands out as a beacon for the integrity and decency that is possible in humanity. Thank you Ocean for continuing to bring the FRN to us.
A deep thanks to John, and my deepest sympathies to you, Ocean and your entire family.

    R.I.P AND POWER JOHN ROBBINS

  • John’s presence was a quiet force of compassion, integrity, and purpose. He touched countless lives through his work, his kindness, and the way he lived—with deep love for animals and a plant-based lifestyle that reflected his values.

As we gather in grief and gratitude, we celebrate a life lived with intention and heart. May our memories, reflections, and prayers honor his legacy and keep his light alive in each one of us.

  • Please accept my sentiments on John’s passing. He has had a profound influence in my life. God bless you all.

  • As part of the plant-based coaching certificate cohort, I was so saddened to hear of John’s passing. It is an honor to be one of the coaches that will continue his amazing work. The movement that John started will not end with his passing, instead, it will fuel the passion of those he touched to carry on his legacy. Thank you, John for being brave and showing others how sharing love and plants can make the world a better place.

  • Ocean and family – my deepest condolences and prayer for you all! You and your father touched so many lives, including mine at a time when I was recovering from cancer! • I have been a member of the Food Revolution Network for many years and will continue to support this mission. John was an incredible man, and although I did not know him personally, I have been empowered by his work. Thank you Ocean for continuing on and bringing cutting edge information to us.
May GOD hold you and your family close, provide peace and much love through the sorrow and grief, and shower you with joyous moments to remember and cherish of the time you shared with your father. Thank you.

  • Handsome Dad, who died early at just 78 years. He had a healthy lifestyle and was young enough to have the appropriate polio vaccination. I am wondering why he died from polio complications? I appreciate your disclosing age and reason for passing. Thank you. A.David

  • I watched my first summit in 2022. I was enlightened, inspired, and made the radical decision to embrace only whole food plant based eating. I have not looked back. I loved all the interviews you did. It started me on a quest to listen to as many gut and brain experts as I could since then. I have learned the science behind how amazing our bodies are. I look forward to each new year’s summit.

I had eaten no white sugar or white flour, and checked every ingredient to make sure there were no additives or preservatives since 1973. You gave me a new road map. Thank you for your dedication to educate your audiences that has saved countless from poor health.

May the God of all comfort hold your hearts in His hand. You have incredible memories to cherish, as you navigate through this season of grieving ~ Marilyn

  • Dear Ocean and family (Annie, when I knew you), I am so sorry to hear this news. I know John will be with you forever, as he will be with so many of us through his words of love and wisdom. I knew you all in Victoria, BC, until I moved away in 1979. I think, Ocean, you may have been 5 or so. I read a couple of John’s books, now I guess I have some catching up to do. I was vegetarian for 5 years, not so completely now. I have some rethinking to do, and rewatching some of your programs. I remembered reconnecting in 1998 or 1999, when John came to Santa Fe. He left us too young, but I think he will still be teaching if we will but listen. I enjoyed the comment of the one who said, (something like), we will ask ourselves “WWJD”, (John).
Blessings to all of us. Carry on, Annie Kopko

  • I am so saddened by this news. I read Diet for a New America when it first came out and it gave me the backing to live my convictions to animals and the planet. I committed to a vegetarian life in 1989, soon after to become fully plant based. I am forever grateful to John and honor his contribution to my life and to the world.

  • Diet for new America changed my world! I had just graduated college and was so blown away by his integrity to follow what was right!! He gave me permission to make serious changes in my life that I have benefited from so greatly these last 30+ years. He was my hero in my 20s 💕🌷🌺thank you and bless you.

  • I am grateful beyond words for your Service to Humanity John. Your legacy will continue through The Food Revolution Network. You are a Blessing to our World. Now your Spirit can soar in the Freedom of Love.

  • I sit here in tears. I so admire you Ocean and especially your dad. I was born in Fullerton Ca and had a Baskin Robins there. To walk away from that fortune and better so many lives! I have never been overweight and always eaten somewhat healthy, but still you and you dad have been such an inspiration with almost half of our country not just overweight but obese, we need you. Carry on his work and blessings to you and your family!

  • I was not aware, even though I read Diet for a New America at least 25 years ago and have watched many Food Revolution summits and read Ocean’s regular emails, that John was dealing with a health concern. It was apparently not an issue for him in the big picture. And somehow that seems right, since his life’s work was so much larger than what he may have personally been dealing with. But I wish I had been able to tell him how much his body of work has impacted my life. I did write a few appreciative emails in the past, and always received a kind reply from someone on the FRN team, and I am fairly certain that John knew that his impact has been enormous on this world, and that he started a ball rolling that is not stopping. Deep appreciation to all in his circle, holding you in my heart.

  • Forever grateful for your presence and work you have done. So grateful to Ocean who will continue the work. Many thanks.

  • Hi Ocean,
I am so sorry to hear about your father. I am one of many that has benefited from his work and yours. Please know that I care and you are are in my prayers.

  • My heart is heavy with the news of John’s passing. For many years, I have looked to him as a compass of integrity and hope in a world that desperately needs those two things. I have been forever changed by his message of compassion, health, and above all, love. I know we will all carry his message in our hearts going forward, and I believe he will continue to be with us as a guide in all we do to make our lives and the world a brighter place. Deep thanks to John, and my deepest sympathies to Ocean and John’s whole family.

  • What a huge loss. I’ve enjoyed and appreciated John’s books and summit contributions for some years. He’s always shown us how to be better people and his intelligent words have resonated with so many.
John will be greatly missed for being a truly talented and special person.
Commiserations to John’s family and friends.
I’ve no doubt the Ocean, another special person, will proudly represent all John’s accomplished.

  • I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad, John Robbins. You all got me started on a Whole Foods Plant-Based lifestyle in your 2023 Food Revolution Summit. Because of you all, I have decreased my risk of heart disease and Alzheimer’s. Most gratefully, I enjoy an overall feeling of wellbeing. I am old enough to remember your dad in the 1970’s and 1980’s and I grew up in an area of the country where his message was not well received. What a wonderful gift he gave to the world!

  • I am filled with sadness too for the loss of your incredible father. I discovered him and his wisdom in 1990 and his information and understanding affirmed my vision too. It was a blessing to have someone so vocal at a time when getting support wasn’t so easy. I would like to send you prayers for as a peaceful passage as possible. Thank you to you and all the work you and your Dad did. Blessings ❤️🦋 Donna

  • Great link…. You did a superb job. Ocean, in the second picture with your dad you look amazingly like he did in the first pick! My deepest condolences but he made the world a much better place for so many of us!!

  • Dear Robbins Family, I’m very sorry to hear of your family’s loss. I have been familiar with FRN since 2020 and attended your annual Food Revolution summit almost every year. I always appreciated John’s welcoming and inviting persona, and I was very appreciative that he made he made this information available for free to anyone who was curious or interested. Thank you for the knowledge and expertise that you provide. May your family find comfort and peace during this difficult time.

  • Thank you John for your life of love and service. The Food Revolution is part of my life for some 7-8 years thanks to the FRN generous support and resources.
Ocean and family, sending much love and light.
I am grateful that love never dies.

  • To Ocean and family:

Ocean, I am very sorry to hear that your dad passed away. His stories were an inspiration to me when I began my plant-based journey. I share the feelings of your grief because my mom passed away just twelve days ago, and it is still very raw. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. Your dad made his mark on the world in a very profound way. May he rest in peace!

  • John Robbins and the Food Revolution Network Summit was my introduction to this lifestyle. If it wasn’t for him, I am not sure I would have the health that I have today. He was truly and individual who thought and acted globally for the greater good. He will be missed.

  • I was saddened by the news of John Robbins’ passing. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family. He’s touched many lives while he was with us.

  • Sending Love to John in spirit, and Ocean and the whole FRN family! I just have to share that, my hard working mom bought me my first Baskin Robbins sugar cone when I was 10 years old at the store on Geary and 23rd Ave in SF, and it is still a very sweet memory 😉 I’ve only recently learned all about John, Ocean and FRN when I received an invitation to attend a free summit! Already, my life has been changed by your incredible wisdom sharing! I’m really really touched by this tribute film and everyone’s words. I have learned SO Much in a short time and already have shared it, so…the ripples continue! I eat a lot better because of your passionate, generous, empowering and very hard work!! Thank you! ♥

  • Sending love to you and your famIly at this sad time. Your father was an amazing inspiration and stands out as a beacon for the good there can be in people. I love his story and feel motivated by it to live by my own values and contribute as much positive energy into the world as I can, like he did and I will forever be plant-based and vegan.

  • My eldest daughter came to me one day with the answer to my prayers to heal my youngest daughter age 12 from Rheumatoid Arthritis in the firm of “ A diet for a New America “ . This was 1998 . Not only did the vegan diet totally cure her and prevent her from becoming crippled by the disease but it brought health and wellness to others that knew of our stories and who were also helped with this knowledge .
We personally owe John so much for what he did . I hope to personally thank him in heaven one day !
I am saddened to hear of him passing . He was truly one of Gods angels !!!
Thank you for carrying on his legacy of love .

  • John’s story about his visiting a pig farm and the devastating effect it had on him has haunted me all of these years. Seeing the way bacon is now served on everything tortures my soul. More people need to hear that story. And to actually realize where all our meat comes from….
    innocent, helpless animals.😔
Thank you John for searing my soul and creating a Vegan.
God bless You and Ocean and your precious family. Your legacy will live on in us! 💜💜💜

  • My deep condoleances for you all, especially you, Ocean and your family, you sufferd a great loss. Your John was one of a kind. Searching for sustainable ways to improve health FRN has inspired me to help my loved ones (and myself) and my patiënt to help them take charge of their own health in a time I really neaded that spark. The compassion and love with which you passed on that valuable knowledge and spoke about your family was so endearing and inspiring. Thank you John and thank you Ocean. I will keep following FRN.

  • Dear John, my heart is filled with love so big the tears overflow. I discovered you in your film, Love Over Money. And I was moved then as now with your deep love when you sat by your father’s side and chanted, Less Pain More Love. Your dad moved beyond the resistance with your persistence and opened to the world of love you modeled.
As an intuitive counselor and energy healer I am bringing that experience to as many people as I can.
Thank you thank you thank you❣️🙏🏻🌈. With love and gratitude.

  • It’s not an exaggeration to say John Robbins changed my life. I first learned of John Robbins and Diet for a New America when a professor in an Environmental Studies class played the accompanying documentary. It blew my mind. I read the book over the Winter break. I wish I could say I went vegan then, at the age of 19. I didn’t though – all just excuses, but there wasn’t such a large vegan community as there is today so there were no models or mentors to look to. Also, for a few weeks after, I tried to at least be vegetarian but I was terrible at cooking!

But it started a long journey that eventually got me there. I never ate red meat again after reading the book, gave up chicken and the like a few years later, then did become a vegan almost 13 years ago. That was the best, most meaningful decision of my life. It was watching and reading John Robbins’ work that lit the spark that is such a big part of who I am today.

I send my condolences to Ocean and all of the rest of John’s family and friends. He certainly made a mark on this work for the much better! May his memory be a blessing.

  • I was shocked to see John left. The world misses his love already. Best wishes John. I hope you are looking down upon us encouraging us never to give up on goodness.

  • John Robbin’s changed my life with his book, “A New Diet for America”. I raised my family without artificial colors, additives, preservatives, sugar, and the pharmaceutical industry’s drugs and vaccines. After my son and I watched his movie showing the devastating treatment of our animals, we became vegetarians. My first docu-series was the “Food Revolution”. Now in our 70’s, we do eat some meat, but only from regenerative farms. His calm, quiet manner was an inspiration to me. I was blessed, as was the world, to have known him in some small way.

  • I found John and Ocean when I just had cancer surgery for endometrial cancer. And they presented so many truths that pushed me forward into health and recovery. The message was full of integrity, humility, courage, compassion, and love. I’m so grateful for this health education, for the example of a meaningful life full of the right ethical choices. I am very grateful for the truth about nutrition that saved my life going forward and kept me cancer free. Thank you John and Ocean for all the doctors you introduced us to. May whatever you do continue to be blessed and to bless everyone in its path.

  • As we grieve this loss, I want to honor a life that so clearly radiated purpose, compassion, and truth. Though I never met John Robbins personally, his work and voice have deeply influenced the way I view health, food, and our responsibility to care for both people and the planet.

Since joining the Food Revolution Network through the 2024 Summit, I’ve felt the love, mission, and integrity that John and Ocean carried together. It has shaped my own journey as a health and wellness coach—and I know I’m just one of many whose life has been impacted because of his legacy.

To the Robbins family: may God’s peace surround you. Thank you for sharing John with the world. His light continues to shine through you, through the movement, and through all of us who carry the torch forward with gratitude and hope.

    With heartfelt prayers,
    Adriana Rocha

  • Sincere condolences Ocean & all your family. I am grateful for the many contributions your dad made to health & environment betterment through healthy food . I am especially grateful for the character and goodness with which he achieved his many accomplishments. He exemplified qualities I admire in my heroes! So sorry for your deep personal loss.
    ❤️🤗🙏

  • When I found your email this morning and read it, I wept. I cannot express the impact your father and you, Ocean, have had in my life. I support your mission and have been inspired by both of you- for your courage, your ability to reach and influence so many, and your kindness. The Food Revolution Network has been impactful in both my health choices and my desire to improve our environment and create a more humane world for all beings. Recently, I started reading John’s books and will continue to work my way through them. I will also contribute to the non-profit in John’s honor. Today I planted seeds in my vegetable garden in memory of John. I have a beautiful and abundant vegetable garden that I started about four years ago partially due to your influence as well as a connection I have with my own dad. Thank you for sharing this memorial page. I hope you feel the genuine love from me and others who did not know your dad personally but see and feel his impact. God Bless your family and your continued work.

  • Words cannot express my deepest condolences to you and your family. John was a wonderful example to all of us and will be sorely missed. John was the best interviewer that I have ever heard and his compassion and love are true examples to all of us that are left in this world. God bless you and keep you.

  • I just learned the news and am crying as I write this. What an inspiration John Robbins has been to me in the many years I have been part of the Food Revolution. I will do all I can to continue his legacy. Thank you John for all you have done to inform and inspire me. Also, sending my heartfelt sympathy to all of John’s family, friends, and colleagues.

  • Ocean: Sending so much love to your family. You will be in my thoughts as you navigate this time of loss. And so much gratitude for the gift of your beautiful father, an endlessly compassionate and generous human being, to this world. He is and will be so missed.

  • From 1986-1992 I owned and operated and Herb Shoppe, Earth Emporium in Alpine, CA. I had just finished an apprenticeship program at Herb-Pharm which raised my awareness about herb quality and felt compelled to bring this higher level of Botanical Medicine to people and animals.
One of the categories of products I offered were books. In 1989 I learned about John Robbins, his incredible heart, insight, foresight and his mission to heal this planet via a pamphlet I received called, “REALITIES 1989.”
This was excerpted from John’s book, “Diet for a New America.” I was transformed by the message of the statistics in this people friendly, but extremely powerful pamphlet that I ordered to several to have at the store. I still have my original copy.
Throughout the years I have learned more about John’s history, his selflessness, his pure intention to heal this planet. What an amazing man who directed his time in ways that left such an ongoing positive impact. So much to be learned from his eternal presence.
We are all touched by his heart, and blessed by his dedication and excellence. With gratitude and my deepest condolences to you and your family, Ocean.

  • Many blessings to you on your final journey. Out thoughts are with your family. Thankyou for everything.

  • My deepest condolences to you, Ocean, and to your family, on the loss of your dad. John Robbins was one of the people I admired most in this world. I wish I could have met him in person, but am grateful to have known him via his books, and the Food Revolution Network. What a tremendous legacy he leaves across the globe! He walks beyond this world now, yet his spirit remains here with us, inspiring and motivating us toward “more love.” His integrity is our example, along with his compassion for all living beings, his goals for the best choices toward healthy living, and his work for the greater good in this world. I grieve with his family now—sharing in both the grief and the love for this gentle soul—for his life, and his work. May we continue to feel his presence, walk in his light, and give our best effort toward carrying out his purpose for our world. As a breast cancer survivor, I will always be grateful to John for the impact he has had, and will continue to have, in my life; he motivated me toward food choices that are the very best for my health. I will be eternally grateful for every seed he planted to make our world a healthier and better place for all of us. I now offer a prayer of comfort and peace for John’s family, and a prayer for his humble and loving spirit to shine as a beacon throughout our world.

  • Ocean and family,
I’m both so sad for your incredible loss and at the same time, happy for John to be comfortably and safely in the arms of Jesus. He generously and brilliantly shared his knowledge of the problems and solutions to our health issues, and overflowed with love for you and for the innocent beings of our earth. Such a sweetheart. Thank you, Ocean for letting all of us know of our loss. Thank you John, for being you.

  • So sorry for your loss, Ocean. Your dad made a huge contribution to this world that will continue on for many, many years.

  • Dear Ocean, and family, and team,
I’ve never met any of you personally, but I have followed your work for many years. I have listened to John speak in videos online during that time, and it was clear that he was a shining light. A true gentle man. A true leader. The love and compassion, the integrity and intelligence were clearly apparent. You are truly blessed to have had him as your father, and he blessed to have you as a son.
I am deeply moved to hear about his passing. It has touched me greatly to experience your relationship as father and son over the years. As a man who lost his own father when I was but 9, it has been a true delight and a touching experience to witness you both.
My thoughts are with you and with John for his onward journey.
    With love and gratitude.

  • Thank you John Robbins for your many decades of service to humanity, reminding us that we have healthy options and alternatives when it comes to feeding our bodies and taking care of ourselves. You are a beautiful soul of integrity and vision. Sending many blessings to your loving family, and to you John, as you transition to the next phase of your ongoing journey.

  • Over three decades ago, I started a career in the Natural Foods industry and today I own a store that has been serving my community for almost 10 years. To say that Mr. Robbins had no influence on me back in the beginning would be insane. After reading his book that changed everything many years back, I came to realize all these years later that God sent us John; to lead a master class in compassion and living from one’s heart. A timeless lesson for all of us here on Planet Earth.
THANK YOU John for the light you shined upon and into all places in need of receiving it! Rest in peace kind Sir. You were an inspiration for me decades ago and will continue to be one while I walk this path upon a foundation you helped to solidify. You planted the seeds that today’s MAHA movement is just now starting to cultivate.
Ocean, I can’t imagine your sadness, but I send you and your entire family immense thoughts of peace and comfort.

  • May I too look for all the ways to serve and share love and help this suffering world find its way “back to the garden.” 🙏

  • Such a sad loss of such a remarkable man, his life changing legacy will continue to grow because of his inspiring bravery and the wonderful people he surrounded himself with

  • My very deepest sympathies to the Robbins family and the entire FRN family. What a tremendous loss and yet tremendous gift and legacy he has left us all. Godspeed to his Soul for his next journey. You will long be remembered for your living legacy.

  • I was taking a child development class at Pasadena City College in the early 1990’s and we watched one of Mr. Robbins films. I immediately became a vegetarian and I’ve never looked back. I credit him for my health and that of my family. He changed my life. Thank you and may God bless you and heal your hearts. Your family is changing and saving lives every day.

  • So sad to hear this news but so grateful to have been inspired by John’s message which has never been more important than now. Thank you for your courage to walk this path and speak out. Your legacy is the impact you have made and inspiring others to live more holistically with the land. With much gratitude and love.

  • Although I only knew John Robbins through digital media, I felt a connection to him, to the Robbins’ family and of course, the Food Revolution Network. His beliefs and actions have positively impacted my life and I feel a sense of loss. However, I am comforted by the beautiful words shared by Ocean and John’s legacy. May family, friends, and faith give all who grieve a sense of comfort in the days ahead.

  • Dear Ocean,
This was the day I was sadly knowing was coming.

I will never forget having ome Eartheart (then, Syndee Brinkman) introduce me to your Dad a long, long time ago at one of the first Animal Rights Marches in DC. Diet for a New America had just come out and I expressed my gratitude for his life’s arc to that point and brilliant thought in sharing what was clearly the bible for our movement. He was always so kind, compassionate, generous and strategic.

I’m so grateful for his creating EarthSave, truly one of the only animal rights groups at the time that saw and supported the connection to organic agriculture and overall sustainability. We at the Alliance for Sustainability (then the International Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture) were so grateful for that alignment with our work. We felt like sister organizations.

This was brought into reality when the Alliance and EarthSave worked side-by-side with 100 other NGOs at the 1992 UN Earth Summit in Rio to somehow get all 178 countries attending to adopt sustainable agriculture as a goal in Agenda 21. It was a huge, world-changing victory and your Dad played a key role in making that happen.

Later, I had the honor of being the chair of EarthSave Minnesota and we worked ceaselessly to fulfill your Dad’s vision.

And I continue to use various key ideas and facts from your Dad’s talks and books as part of our work at the Alliance.

I’m so grateful that you are carrying on your Dad’s legacy in such a profound, powerful and beautiful way. Thank you.

And may God bless your Dad, you, your family and everyone who continues to work hard every day to make your Dad’s vision a reality.

With Love, Support, Sadness, Health and Sustainability,
    Terry

  • What a profound inspiration you have been to me and to so many others. With love, sorrow and gratitude, MJ Morse

  • John’s life story inspired me to change the way I ate. After my heart attack I began to eat WFPB and saw my lipid tests and bloodwork improve considerably. I’m so thankful! My prayers are with Ocean and the family for God’s comfort. 🙏

  • Ocean, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man. How blessed you are to have worked alongside him these many years.

  • So much tears of grief and also tremendous gratitude for the amazing gift and presence of John Robbins in this dimension. My deepest condolence to his entire family and THANK YOU for continuing his legacy of love, truth and justice.

  • My condolences to your entire family. This is real tear jerker news. I have so much respect and gratitude for John and how he changed how I consume. I became a student of his life principles through C19 that has masterfully improved my life forever. I’ve had many conversations over the years sharing John’s life and recommending folks to the FRN. The amazing documentaries produced awareness prompting my reevaluated choices.
Though I’ve never heard of PPS, my dad contracted polio in 1921 at 7 years old. I know 2nd hand what it’s like, and the associated sounds of his brace with every step. He never complained and always worked. He worked until he was 70 and passed at 92. John’s story really hit home. His ability to overcome so much and them yoga poses blew my mind. Wow ! My life choices will always be determined by WWJD? Yes, J is now John. RIP sir.

  • John Robbins was a national treasure and will be missed. We are so fortunate to have his videos and books and of course his son Ocean who will continue to spread the truth.
God bless the Robbins family as they mourn John’s passing.

  • Sad news but hopeful about his message. I will always thank John and Ocean for teaching me about health and healing. May God give you peace.

  • John, You are one of the Good-Guys … Your life in this world is a statement of kindness to humanity …. I personally have been touched with education about food-choices you’ve taught me .. May Ocean continue your Legacy thru the next many years … You mattered.

  • Thank you John, for your vision, your dedication and your love. You made the world a better place. Your job is done. You inspired so many of us to continue your legacy. May you be in peace.

  • It was a pleasure to meet John on the FRN and learn through John’s knowledge. He touched and improved many people’s lives including my own life. He will be missed greatly by everyone and I am so sad to hear he passed on but his legacy lives.

  • Ocean, sorry to read about your father ,he was a good man ,his Legacy will live on. The universe created some good. There is only love and love wins!!!!

  • John is the reason my wife and I eat whole foods plant based. RIP brother and thank you for everything you have given our world. Your light will never die.

  • My first significant exposure to animal rights information was in the very early 80’s, via paper mailings I received from PETA and PCRM, which were both established around the same time. As all vegetarians and vegans know, the social pressure against change is enormous, and though I joined both organizations early on, I could not bring myself to totally give up meat until I read Diet for a New America. It haunts me still. Thank you, dear John, and thank you dear Ocean for continuing the movement.

  • Thank you John Robbins for all your efforts to spread the word about plant based eating. God bless you RIP. Thank you Ocean Robbins for continuing the powerful message of your beloved father. Much courage and love to you and your family.

  • John’s life’s work will live on strong. He will be remembered among those who made the biggest impacts on our collective movement toward a better life and a better world. We are all lucky to have Ocean continuing this guidance into the future.

  • ❤️ I am grateful to have known John Robbins. I watch the Food Revolution Summit every year….ever since I was first introduced to it at a work conference….and later through the pandemic. I have a couple of John and Ocean’s books. I am healthier having followed their messages and the advice of so many experts that they brought to the Food Revolution network. I truly appreciate John Robbin’s caring and integrity. Thank you for sharing. 🕯️🥗

  • In Loving Memory of John Robbins
May his legacy nourish generations to come

John Robbins was more than an author. He was a beacon of courage and conscience in a world that often looked the other way.

Through books like Diet for a New America and The Food Revolution, John awakened a global consciousness about the links between food, health, environmental sustainability, and ethical living. His voice was steady, scientific, and deeply human—a rare blend of wisdom and heart.

He challenged industries, inspired movements, and gave individuals the tools to change their lives from the inside out. Many of us owe our journeys toward plant-based health, mindful eating, and compassionate living to his work.

Even in his final years, John remained a fierce advocate for truth and a gentle soul who believed in humanity’s potential for change. His legacy lives on in every meal made with care, every animal spared, every life extended through conscious choices.

We mourn his passing—but more than that, we celebrate his life. May we carry his message forward, not just in words, but in action. For the animals. For the planet. For ourselves.

Rest in peace, John. And thank you—for everything.

  • Although I never met John in person, his work and spirit touched me deeply and inspired me and so many others in profoundly positive ways. I read Diet for a New America as an athlete two years after graduating from UC Santa Cruz. It literally changed my perception of the world and how I live in it. I went vegan in 1987 and have shared the joys of this compassionate, life-affirming way of living broadly and with enthusiasm ever since, including on the public speaking circuit in more recent years. I must thank you, John, for having the courage, tenacity, and love for doing all that you did, for raising wonderful kids, and helping to nurture what is best in us and for the world. Know that your wonderful legacy lives on in many. Thank you, thank you.

  • Ocean,
I am profoundly saddened by the passing of your father John. He was and will always be a source of hope and inspiration to me. It is with deep regret that I will no longer
have the opportunity to meet him
as I was hoping to engage him in conversation at one of your wellness classes one day. With that
being stated, we all share your grief
and know that your dad lives on in
us all. He was a pioneer in his own
right and helped to set the standard
for a happy and healthy lifestyle.
With that being said, please accept
    my heartfelt condolences and take
solace in knowing that others care.

  • It was heartbreaking to learn of John’s passing. He was a great man, who selflessly shared himself and his knowledge with the world, so that we might live happier, healthier lives on a healthier, sustainable planet. Thank you John for the impact you have had on my life and on the world.
My heart goes out to Ocean and John’s family and friends at this time of great sorrow. May you be comforted knowing that he fulfilled his purpose and left the world better than he found it. May he rest in peace.

  • I am an admirer of John Robbins and his legacy. He is a truly impact leader. In this moment of grief, my prayers are with the Robbins family, hoping that you might find comfort in time. I became a vegetarian 15 years ago, part because of his message. With all the information that FRN shares, I am slowly trying to go vegan and my health is better than ever. Thank you, John. Thank you, Ocean. You are changing the world one persona at a time. My bessings and gratitude forever.

  • My condolences to you, Ocean, and your family. John was a powerful voice advocating for a kinder, healthier and gentler world. We all have a responsibility to carry his vision forward.

  • John has always been an icon and beautiful soul in my life. His books and later his Food Revolution Network have guided and inspired me during my journey in helping handicapped animals and children. His love for all living beings and the food that nourishes all resonated with me. I realized that like him I was blessed by God to value and enjoy the relationships we nourish and to not hesitate to do good where you can. John never missed an opportunity to teach and encourage us all to hold these revelations and knowledge as precious beyond any desire for monetary, social or political gain. Although I like millions will miss him I have forever grateful he left a beautiful legacy in his son, Ocean. I look forward to continued support from Ocean and his work for our hope for a peaceful, healthy life.

  • Ocean, I can’t imagine, this loss, for you and your family…….What a WONDERFUL way to LIVE, and GROW, and BE!!! Your Dad, was a pioneer………..a force of Nature…….An Angel, incarnate…………….I had no idea he had ever been ill, let alone polio…he looked so well….vibrant….healthy. I had no idea how old he was-I thought he was WAAAY younger!!! This is a loss, in bodily form only……..the SOUL, that was JOHN, is everlasting, and forever ALIVE!!! There will be a song, or phrase, or word, or action, that will remind you of him……he’s just saying “HI!”!!! May you forever be blessed, and comforted, and LOVED. xoxo Marie

  • My heartfelt condolences to you Ocean and to your family.
Indeed John’s love and legacy will continue on. The seeds planted through the books he wrote and the extraordinary life he lived will continue to grow and flourish and bless more people in their journey to health and wellness.
It’s a blessing for me and my family given the opportunity to join the last 2 recent FRN docuseries and the film Love over Money. It reinforced the commitment in our journey to vegan diet and healthy lifestyle.
Thank you Ocean for sharing your life and love as you continue John’s love. Blessings and more power to you and the people who will be working with you to continue your Dad’s mission.

  • I am so so sorry for your loss. He was one of the people that inspired me to take a step towards a plant based eating. But beyond that I truly felt the love he gave and his sincerity and that is such a beautiful thing to share even with someone you have never met and live continents apart. Ocean, I want to tell you that the works you and your dad have been doing are not impacting only those who are in the Western world, many of us in different parts of the world have benefited immensely thanks to technology …..sending you gratitude and lots of love from Ethiopia.

  • In Scotland there is a lament sung or played on the bagpipes. The title of the song is ‘The Flowers of The Forest’ and it was originally written following a battle where many young men were killed. Your dad metaphorically was of the forest too. Only he was one of the great oaks in that forest, for like an oak, which reaches out and supports more species than any other native tree, your dad reached out and helped a great many people to a better life. I lament the passing of your dad, and offer you my heartfelt condolences.

  • Sorry to hear about his passing.
I became interested in this kind of eating is that it is not a Fad diet. This is normal eating.
All the fruit and vegetables and grains have nutrients that our bodies need for good health.
    Thank you,
    Wendy

  • It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of John Robbins. The French translation of his book “Diet for a New America” was a turning point in my life when I felt very alone in my vegetarian lifestyle choices. His book opened my eyes to the unimaginable suffering our lifestyle cause to animals. A suffering that I suspected but whose extent I had not grasped until then. I am now vegan and try in my own way to spread its message of a healthy lifestyle while causing less suffering to humans, animals and less damage to our planet. He will have been on the right side of history. Thank you for his life, his colossal and significant work. We are blessed that Ocean continues his work. My deepest condolences to all who loved him, especially to Ocean and his family.

  • On my journey from sickness to healing, John Robbins has long been my example and my inspiration. I hope to carry his strength, motivation and kindness with me forever.

  • Listening to your voice Ocean breaks my heart. I read Diet for a New America right when it came out, it started my journey on learning everything I could about nutrition. It changed my life. I’ve listened to almost every year of the Food Revolution series. Your father was and always will be someone I aspire to.
RIP John 😢. He really did make a change in the world.

  • What a monumental gift John was to health and humanity. My most heartfelt condolences to Ocean and family. Thankful that Ocean will continue the legacy of his father, helping to save the lives of animals & people and teaching a kinder, healthier way of life. Finding FRN in 2016 truly changed my life and I’m forever grateful.

  • Humanity has just lost one of its most wise and kind souls. To Ocean and the my FRN family I send my love, support and a warm embrace. John’s presence came into my life at a time when I needed a kind word and human touch and not only did he touch my soul with his wisdom, but he completely changed my very existence. I came upon his work through the Food Revolution Network seminar in 2015 and I have learned so much from him about various topics, but the biggest lesson, was about how to be a kinder soul. Thank you so much John! Your light will go on.

  • I read A Diet for a New America and went vegan in 1997, almost 30 years ago. John Robbins’ journey and writing were so inspiring and he completely changed my life. Now my vegan hubby and I are raising two lovely little vegans in this crazy world, and I’m about to finish writing a vegan cookbook called Recipes for Compassion. Thank you John and Ocean and Co., we will keep on fighting the good fight, for the animals, our health, and the earth.

  • Dear Ocean, and the Robbins family, my heartfelt sympathies. A great and determined man, who did so much to get the truth of a wholesome diet as a key to our health.
His message (along with yours, Ocean) persuaded me of the benefits of a whole food plant based diet, and I have had no regrets of transitioning to that diet, though still occasionally revert to bad, but still PB, choices. I’m still learning this new way of cooking and eating and remain fascinated by the science.
    Celebrate a life well-lived.

  • I like to Thank John Robbins for his amazing love for animals that guided me in the direction of kindness for animals and the planet. I will miss him deeply.

  • My sincere sympathy to you Ocean on the passing of your Dad. We can all learn so much from his work. May he Rest in Peace

  • John Robbins was more than an author — he was a moral pioneer, a visionary, and a lifelong advocate for compassion in how we live, eat, and treat the Earth and one another. His groundbreaking book, Diet for a New America, didn’t just shift the conversation about food — it ignited it. With clarity and courage, he challenged the status quo, revealing the hidden costs of industrial food systems on our health, the planet, and countless sentient lives.

Born into the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire, John could have lived a life of comfort and conformity. But he made a choice few would have the strength to make: he walked away from fortune and legacy in favor of integrity. He chose purpose over profit — and through that choice, became a guiding light for millions seeking a kinder, more sustainable way to live.

His work helped birth and legitimize the plant-based movement long before it was trendy. But more than food, his message was one of interconnectedness — between body and spirit, human and animal, personal choice and global consequence.

In a world often driven by convenience, John Robbins reminded us that conscious living is courageous living. He taught us that the dinner plate is not just a personal choice, but a moral one — and that every meal is an opportunity to honor our deepest values.

He was not only an author, but a teacher, a father, a truth-teller, and a peacemaker in a time of urgent need.

His legacy lives on in every act of compassion, every ethical choice made at the table, and every soul awakened to the truth that what we consume can either harm or heal.

Thank you, John Robbins, for showing us what it means to live in alignment with the heart. You were — and remain — a hero of our time.

  • John Robbins is one of the great teachers who impacted my life forever. I have learned from him for over 20 years through his books, lectures, and the Food Revolution Summit. My health and happiness are greater thanks to him. I am eternally grateful.

  • I am so sorry for your loss, Ocean & all the family. John was a unique, meaningful person & so inspirational with his work towards better health as was the really special connection between the two of you. I hope that many wonderful memories will bring you comfort.

  • My condolences and prayers to the family. Thank you for the legacy. The work continues.

  • I listened to an audio book many years by John and I was fascinated at how he walked away from such a profitable business because his caring heart for the health of his customers was much bigger than money. When I learned about his son Ocean following in dad’s footsteps, I’ve been a follower ever since. I have so much gratitude for you both. Your contributions will be felt for generations to come.

  • My deepest sympathy for your loss. The candle may go out, but the memory of him remains.

  • John you have been an inspiring friend to many and a guiding light in our journey through life seeking a healthy path. I share Ocean’s grief, Love and gratitude for you. May you continue to guide us through your legacy and may you Rest In Peace.

  • I am deeply saddened; the love between John and Ocean was moving, joyful and gave me hope.
The world and my life are better for having known you.

  • I became vegetarian in 1988. Two years later, I read Diet for a New America and immediately following, became vegan. I have remained vegan not looking back. I agree with him that it has not been giving up anything, but rather, giving life to myself and the animals. John spoke at a local college and I attended the presentation. It confirmed that he was a special kind of person. He absolutely changed my life! Thank you John, and thank you Ocean for continuing his legacy.

  • John Robbins was a beacon of integrity and a testament to the power of compassion. He was a force for good in the world, speaking so loudly without once raising his voice. He will be sorely missed.

  • It seems to me that John Robbins lived life on his own terms and THAT is always a life worth living and remembering. Though his body is no longer, his spirit and personality will forever be remembered. He has achieved a sense of immortality. Go in peace and shine on, John.

  • I’m sorry for your loss. It is rare to find such a loving person. You were blessed to have him. May he rest in peace and may it comfort you to know that you will meet again.

  • All the words so eloquently spoken only hint at what’s in the heart. Holding your family in a heart hug, sharing you with humanity, and using Ocean’s words, “With grief, love, and gratitude,” a humble thank you. Peace ❤️

  • I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Take solace in knowing that your father is no longer in pain but is now wrapped in the loving arms of God. May you know peace at this difficult time.

  • I first heard of the Food Revolution Network and of John & Ocean Robbins earlier this year at the monthly plant-based potluck at First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque in New Mexico. It was also there that I first heard of this year’s Food Revolution Summit.

Like millions worldwide, I was blown away by John’s touching story in the documentary, “Love Over Money,” about how he walked away from being the heir to the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire because of the cruelty he saw to cows and their calves.

That difficult decision, as those who have seen the documentary know, led John to become the man that millions of people have come to know through his dedicated and selfless work
against animal cruelty, protecting the environment, and showing the world the immense health benefits of gradually adapting to a plant-based diet.

I am not fully there as yet, but the awareness and knowledge are there, and I have John and Ocean Robbins to thank for that priceless gift.

I was moved to tears about how he valiantly recovered from polio as a child. That it took decades before Post Polio Syndrome caught up with him is testimony to how his very active lifestyle and his plant-based diet kept that syndrome at bay for all those decades.

John, you are now an angel 😇 in heaven, and your inspiring and life-changing work continues through your son, Ocean, the Food Revolution Network and the millions of lives worldwide that you have impacted. And to think, so many more lives will be when they hear of you and the Food Revolution Network for the first time.

Without a doubt, perpetual light is shining upon you. Rest in peace brother John!

Ocean, I join millions in sending my sympathy to you and your family.

  • In 1993 i became vegetarian, out of reading magazines exposing animal cruelty. However not always I could counteract the dietary and ethical arguments thrown at me. aftet reading Diet for a New America all that changed dramatically. Thank you Jonh for your work, for embodying compassion. My heart is with you and your family and close friends.

  • I never met your father, Ocean, but if I had, I would have shaken his hand or given him a heartfelt hug. The courage he had to leave the ice cream fortune behind, all those years ago, shows the measure of the man he was. In my eyes, he was and is a true hero with HEART. I have cried, got angry, or just felt utterly powerless at the level of cruelty and suffering, animals, wildlife, and our planet have to endure at the hands of humanity, the brutality of the factory farming industry, the destruction of forests, and habitats. Before I found Food Revolution, and watched your summits, with your father and yourself, I HAD HONESTLY LOST ALL FAITH IN THE HUMAN RACE. Compassion and love are the only virtues that will truly save our beloved world. Your Father, you, the Food Revolution Network, and everyone involved are a beacon in the dark, to light the way for others to follow, with love and compassion leading the way. I know your father is a shining spirit, empowering all you do; you, too, are a beautiful soul. Love to you and your family at this challenging time.✨ There is a song, one of my favourites, the sentiment is so much like your father. Joy and love.
    Let Your Love Flow
Song by The Bellamy Brothers ‧ 1976

  • Condolences to the Robbins family.
John Robbins was a true visionary for lifestyle and health.

  • Ocean and the Robbins family,
What a beautiful tribute to your father and the impact that he created in this world!
How very thoughtful of you to enable him to hear, while he was still living, the gratitude of some of his closest friends and colleagues, and be reminded of how his example of living a healthy lifestyle has made a difference in the lives of those he touched throughout this world.
My sincere condolences for your personal loss of your father, in concert with my extreme gratitude for the gifts that he provided for you and for all of us who admired his journey throughout his life.
Blessings as you carry on the principles and projects that he shared with you, which will remain in perpetuity as the legacies of each of you.

  • Thank you for your integrity in a world so riddled with deceit! I have loved your offerings and know how truly special you are. Thank you for your help to all of us to see the truth and improve our lives.

  • I’m so sorry to hear we lost one of the kindest person in the humanities, food, health world.
My ❤️ go to your family especially to Ocean. Thank you for sharing!!

  • I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m grieving with you. John was an amazing, awesome and inspiring person! There are few men in this world with such love and integrity. John’s work and the FRN has been enlightening and life changing. I am very thankful that Ocean will expertly, with passion and love, continue his Father’s legacy. I’m praying for comfort for your family in this time of grief.

  • One of my first jobs as a young teenager was scooping ice cream at a Baskin Robbins store. Then after becoming ill as an adult with autoimmune issues I discovered John & Ocean’s work. Then discovered Dr. Brooke Goldner’s work. Ever since, I have been eating WFPB and feeling delighted & excited about eating this way. SO much goodness came from John Robbin’s work in the world. Godspeed John. Sending so much gratitude & love to Ocean and the Robbins family.

  • We were so fortunate to have this incredible person touch our lives.
He is truly a remarkable man. His legacy will always live on.

  • Hi Ocean, because of your dad John, I am a healthier person today. Thank you for all you do and continuing his work. He is loved by so many people around our world and he will be missed.

  • What an incredible, intelligent and compassionate man. He had the integrity and strength to walk away from a world of “stuff” to a world of meaning. The world will be sadder without him. Bless you and your family in this time of loss.

  • Today I felt like I lost my own father again. John did not know me, but I fell in love with his words, his personality, his work, his compassion, his caring words in every interview he used to do in summits or at the food revolution network each time I saw him. His personality and his care for the planet was contagious and drew my attention over and over again each time I saw him or listened to him. When I heard the news of the polio returning to him , I was devastated. The way he described it in his video broke my heart and I knew he would have a very painful journey ahead of him and I wished him well and a road of not suffering. I missed him in the last summit, but Ocean assured us that he was checking everything behind the scences and this gave me a bit of comfort. Until today that I heard the sad news. The world has lost a gem, someone that is one of a kind and it makes me sad to know that I can never hear his voice of compassion and wisdom. My condolonces to the whole family. You were so lucky to have him every day in your lives and I share your pain and sorrow. May he rest in peace and continue to enlighten us on the Earth.

  • The world lost a great leader when John passed and fortunately for all of us, his legacy continues with Ocean.

  • Work well done! Forever grateful for John Robbins contribution to us. He has connected us to valuable information and phenomenal doctors.
His voice was soothing and he truly made the interviews enjoyable.
Condolences to his family snd loved ones

  • Sorry for your loss Ocean, the world would be a better place if everone would be like your father. As we know the world is in a mess.

  • It was John’s book, Diet for a New America, that led me to give up meat. That was about 35 years ago. It was my bible that also led me to embrace an anti-animal cruelty passion. I am sorry to read the news of his passing. His works were inspiring and impressive.

  • Thank you for sharing your life, your vision and your wisdom with the world. By nurturing a healthier life, you have inspired me and countless others to try to eat and live a better way. May the positive waves you created in life continue to ripple into eternity. You will be missed.

  • John was an incredible human being. Whenever he spoke or wrote down in words, his love and compassion for others came shining through. He was instrumental in changing my life – because of him I became plant based and I have never looked back. I was a graduate of the first cohort of the FRN coaching course and
it was an honour to have crossed paths this way. My thoughts are with his lovely family at this saddest of times. Even though a light has gone out he will continue to shine. Rest in peace friend.

  • How fortunate the world is to be able to move forward with your gifts of knowledge and love. So grateful for you and your family.

  • John was a blessing to the world, and FRN is part of a fine legacy. Condolences to all who loved him.

  • My heartfelt condolences to you, dear Ocean, and your family. John Robbins, your beloved dad, will continue to live in all of us. With gratitude, S

  • So sorry my friends-what he gave and left for us will go on and on. It’s a comfort to know that his work and words will be here for my grandchildren and beyond. Thanks for giving me the
opportunity to express my gratitude for a life well lived.

  • I came across John over twenty years ago and he has changed my life for the better. His dedication to change was unwavering. Thank you John. You will be greatly missed.

  • I’m very sad to hear this news. John was a force of nature, swimming up stream against the ever powerful junk food industry current. I have enjoyed being a longtime member of FRN, as I always felt John brought such honesty, light and love to this subject that I share much passion around. I wish peace and comfort to the entire Robbins family and am confident that John’s amazing legacy will live on for years in the hearts of so many. Sending lots of love.

  • Thank you seems so small in comparison to who I have become and how joyful I am to be part of this beautiful world that is FRN. Heartfelt condolences to you and yours Ocean. My life is changed and just keeps getting better because of your passion, knowledge and love. Blessings.

  • Oh my goodness, I’m so very sorry to hear this. John changed the world and left it a better place. Though I didn’t know him personally I felt a connection, that he was speaking directly to my soul. He changed the way I think of food. Thank you for all you do and continue to do and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful human being. John Robbins’ work helped me set a healthier course for my life. His gentle and kind persona inspired me to be more compassionate and thoughtful. His death is a tremendous loss for all, but his life and legacy are a lasting treasure.

  • Your news shocked me !I gasped . I am an 86 year old Welsh woman and I have been learning from John Robbins for a very long time .I have always welcomed his knowledge –but also his style of presenting it too .He is going to be very sadly missed–but he has a wonderful son to keep up the good work . Sad news.

  • I read John’s book about 25 years ago. It helped turn our family into health conscious eaters. Thank you for how you helped the world.

  • I read Diet for a New America in 2007. It has become as important to me and my lifestyle as The Bible. Perhaps even more! Thank you, John Robbins!

  • Please accept my deepest condolences for the passing away of your dear father, who has done so much for making this place a better one for everyone.
Views about what is healthy or less healthy for people might change from time to time, and what works for someone might not work so well for someone else.
But the goodness and nobleness of a soul are what does remain forever in the memories of those left behind.
May God rest him is Peace in Heaven, and his memory be forever remembered for the best. 🙂

  • I wish I had heard of John sooner. I wish I had learned from him sooner. But I am so grateful that I eventually did. He is an inspiration to me to live a meaningful life, to live with integrity and love, to never give up hope that everything can be changed for the better and that even actions that seem small can combine to make a big difference. He was an activist who guided with unconditional love and respect for all life. May his legacy continue to heal a broken world. I’m sending my love to the Robbins family.

  • My heart goes out to you Ocean and all your family. What a legacy he leaves for the world. He saved a lot of lives from the misery of obesity and poor health.

  • So sorry for your loss. A rare light has passed in this world. I feel a deep sadness—but even more, a profound gratitude. His words found me when I needed them most, and they changed something in me forever. I never met him, yet he helped me become more whole. Thank you, John, for the clarity, the courage, the love.

  • Your beautiful album of photos shows just what a wonderful loving family you are. It must seem impossible to grasp that John is no longer with us except in our hearts, souls and food choices! John made such a huge difference to so many lives and your continuation of this, Ocean, is a massive privilege for us all. May your wonderful memories comfort you and spur you on to spreading the word even further.

  • Ocean,
My sincerest sympathy to you in the passing of your father. He is your light now and you’ve written an awesome tribute to him. He can be confident that he has passed the torch of his beliefs on to his most competent and compassionate son.
    Saddened, but hopeful, Alyce Woodfield

  • John Robbins has played an integral role in my life. He has always been a life’s hero and a best friend. I am overwhelmed with sadness and grief. I say his prayer every day. He was so much more than just about food. He was about integrity. And compassion. And love. An amazing man. He will live in my heart forever.

  • My sincere condolences to you and your family, Ocean. Healthy at 100 was the book that changed my life. It led me on a journey to continue to study the multitude of benefits of a plant based diet and to pass that on to young people and people who are immune compromised.

  • The passing of John Robbins was not reported on the TV news this morning. It should have been. Had he been a sports hero or movie star, it would have been. This is an indication of how much society building and healing remains for us, as we carry on the torch that he carried so well. A dear friend of mine in the Baha’i Faith community suffered post-polio syndrome, so I am familiar with it. My heart goes out to his dear family and friends, as you navigate the challenges of grief and loss and relief. We join you in prayers and in a determination to carry forward John’s tremendous legacy of love and service to all mankind. God bless you.

  • I want to express my love and condolences for the Robins family. He changed my life for the better, I will in his memory always contribute to further expand his mission. 🙏

  • Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare The truth thou hast, that all may share; Be bold, proclaim it everywhere: They only live who dare. -Voltaire
    John dared.
My garden is bigger this year. A better way of life exists because a person dared and shared. Thank you.

  • Thank you for being in this world and for your spirit which is everlasting. My life has been blessed with your love and knowledge. May I be as giving to those I love (including this earth) as you have to us. Blessings

  • I have been following John (& Ocean) for years, thru his books and Food Revolution Summit. His contributions to healthy eating, healthy living and a healthy planet will live on forever.

  • My condolences go to Ocean and his family. John Robbins’ book: Diet for New America changed my life and I became a vegan overnight. My health improved and I’m still very grateful for the truth from him about the animals in factories. May John rest in peace forever!

  • Dear Ocean, Deo and family, it is through tears of sadness that I read of John’s passing but with gratitude that I embrace the profound and positive impact he had and will continue to have on my family’s life , and those around us. A gift to us all and to all living things on the planet – bringing a voice to the voiceless, ethics, sustainability, health, integrity, inclusivity, intellect, wisdom, humour, compassion, vision, love , hope . . to a world in need. Thank you for sharing this part of your journey with us John and thank you dear Robbins family and friends for sharing him with us. Sending love and holding up torches in Australia.

  • I’m so sorry to see this. Mr. Robbins changed my life when I read his book “Diet for a New America” in 1992. I looked at everything differently and have been, first vegetarian then vegan since. He touched and saved more lives than he ever knew. I’m grateful he touched my life in this way. Condolences to the family, that would be all of us. ❤

  • Heartbreaking news for all who were touched by his words of wisdom. Wishing healing to you and your family.

  • WOW! Thank You! A Very moving Tribute to and for John Robbins! I am truly Blessed to have had the opportunity to watch this Living Tribute to John by many mentors of mine. As a Stage 4 Cancer survivor for 8 Years now I know how the immense importance of an “Attitude of Gratitude” and the Love that not only We need to receive but that We also need to give that has helped me overcome the ravages of this disease. I call this Love a GIFT. John Robbins is, and I say is because John still is the Shining light in the darkness when it comes to all of that and much more. Having that Faith and that Believe and Yes that Love for Humanity and also for self is HUGE! You Lived, You Cared, You Shared, and You Loved. God Bless You John Robbins. I did not know You here in this Life but I am assured that Your Spirit will Live on in many, many Hearts around this World! You have now become that Legacy that You deserve! ~Jeffrey Miller

  • An immeasurable loss to the Wellness movement. A man who lived his beliefs and radiated love and integrity. Thank you John Robbin’s for a lifetime of educating about healthy diets and fighting back against the poisoning of our food supplies in the interests of profit before people. 💕

  • My wife and I met John twice in the mid seventies when he came and spoke in Charlotte, where we lived. He listened intently whilst speaking with us as if we were the only people in the world. Few have that ability. We are always thinking ahead to what we are going to say. Not John. He listened, then responded. He profoundly influenced us then. And, now.Thank you, John.
    Barry Triplett

  • John Robbins has changed my life, my outlook on life, and my health! I will be forever grateful, and hope to continue his legacy through my own sharing and choices. Much love to all of those who will miss him the most.

  • Dear Ocean,
The news of passing away of John Robbins is devastating. He was a family to me, I knew you, your dad, your grand dad and your kids through the conversations of John Robbins I listened to so many times. My heart sinks at the thought that John Robbins is no more. FRN through plant based food and lifestyle modifications has transformed my life and has helped me keep me free from chronic illnesses of modern day times. You are leading a very noble mission by spreading the information and proving to the world that plant based food is the foundation of human health besides protecting the environment and planet earth at that the same time.

  • I deeply regret the loss of Mr. Robbins and would like to accompany Ocean and his family and everyone who loved him in your sadness and sorrow. I am also profoundly grateful for his work and the wonderful example his life was for all human beings and for his commitment for the wellness of the people and the planet. I would like to be more fluent in English to better express my gratitude and my condolences. I am with you, Ocean and your family. Rest in peace, Mr. Robbins. You will never be forgotten. You were one of the unique and imprescindible, neccesary persons the world will always need. Bless you!

  • Ocean and family, My sincerest condolences to you and your family. John’s impact on the world was immeasurable. His impact on my life was life-changing. His compassionate approach helped open my eyes and guide me to live a more compassionate life through his example and his guidance and education. John will long be remembered for his professional accomplishments, but his real legacy of love will weave throughout generations as his influence has changed so many, one person at a time, and we will continue to carry his light.

  • Dear Ocean and Family, so sad to hear of your dad, John’s passing. May God give you all the strength to bear the loss and his absence. May his soul rest in peace. He will be missed

  • I am so sad to hear this news of your lovely Dad, a very handsome and loving man, I know how much you will miss him on many levels. Thank you for sharing his story. Love to you and your family xx

  • A wonderful man and a life well lived. Taken too soon. Grief is the price we pay for love. RIP John

  • John’s writing irrevocably changed my awareness and understanding. My every interaction with him made me want to be a better person- be kinder, work harder, accomplish more- in the vain attempt to keep up with his glowing example. He was, quite simply, among the greatest of humans I have been privileged to know, and I will miss him.

  • I am very saddened to hear of the passing of John Robbins, author of Diet for a New America. John and that book changed my life forever and I might not even be here in Costa Rica if it was not for that book. Diet for a New America brought together the things I love; animals, healthy planet and healthy people, and connected all the dots for me. Animals treated with respect and love, people eating foods that made them healthy which in turn, helped to keep the planet healthy. I immediately became a vegetarian after reading that book, and not long after, vegan.
That book and what it stood for meant so much to me, that I started a chapter of John’s organization, EarthSave, in Orange County, California, waaaaaaaaay before being vegetarian was cool and way before restaurants and stores offered vegetarian options. I even eventually moved to Northern California to Santa Cruz to work directly for John at the main office of EarthSave.
It was in Santa Cruz, among the magnificent redwood forest and Pacific Ocean, in the amazing mountain town called Bonny Doon, that I had a spiritual awakening and my true divine path and dolphin journey began. I am sure it wouldn’t have happened as it did if it had not been for John Robbins and that book.
I am forever grateful for not only the profound impact John Robbins had on my life, but for the great contribution he made to humanity and Planet Earth. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. 💗

  • That is so very sad. I feel for you Ocean and your family and cherish the impact John has had on my own transition to plant based since the acquisition of Diet for a Small Planet, many years ago. How very proud you must all be of this remarkable human being.

  • Dear Ocean and family
We’re so sorry to hear of the loss of your father.John was inspiring and seemed a genuinely kind and caring man.
I hope you can take some comfort from God’s promises at John 5:28 and Revelation 21:3,4
It won’t always be like this.

  • Dear Ocean and family, so shocked and saddened at your/our loss. John was a beautiful spirit who has left us way too soon. He lit a light in me that has touched how I live each day. I’m so grateful that our life paths crossed. He will be much missed. Rest in peace John. ❤️xxxxxx

  • Hi Ocean, I did watch the video with your dad and was very impressed with him as a person and his contribution towards humans’ well being. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

  • Heartbreaking to have lost such a kindhearted human being. I’m so sorry for your loss, Ocean and family. My thoughts are with you all x

  • At 75 years old i can honestly say it is John Robbins work alone that has had the greatest positive impact on my life. I still treasure my copies of the wonderful EarthSave Magazines—the article he wrote after 911 sadly was too advanced for humanity’s current spiritual evolution. His always choosing love over judgement such as his visit to the pig farmer was deeply inspiring. And he and Ocean’s creation of The Food Revolution Network finally gave me the tools to break my addiction to organic processed vegan “food” and have more energy and feel better than i had in over 3 decades after being stricken with severe chronic insomnia.(Mostly healed now thanks to cognitive behavioral therapy.) His legacy will be as a truly great man. 🙏

  • Diet for a New America was a wonderful and disturbing revelation to me. It was the ‘teacher’ I had been searching for in my hunt for living well and with compassion. John’s unselfish sharing and his ‘walk the walk and talk the talk’ changed my life. For this I will forever be grateful. The universe has lost him physically, but his loving legacy of books, videos, talks, and smiles keep him present in countless thousands of human, animal and plant lives today and in the future. He was a true king of the Earth.

  • I had the honour of becoming a FRN nutrition coach in 2023, and I’ve attended several FRN annual summits. Although I never met John in person, my virtual interactions with the organization he and Ocean created, more specifically with the with the people that form their team and are the voices behind FRN, deeply impressed me with their compassion, wisdom, knowledge and commitment to making our world and lives better. John’s legacy lives on in FRN’s work and through its team. To Ocean and the FRN team, I’m so sorry for this profound loss. As you said in this beautiful tribute to him, it’s now time for all of us to pick up the torch and keep working toward creating the world John envisioned. We will do exactly that. John, you are deeply missed but not forgotten. We are all better because of you. Thank you John.

  • Dearest Ocean and family,
I am messaging from the United Kingdom, I’m a longstanding admirer of John’s and now Ocean’s work. His inspiration clearly has spread far and wide. I loved the comment that Ocean said, that he stands in his father’s light. So many of us have had the privilege of bright light moments listening or reading John’s wisdom. I spent my last holiday in Maderia watching the food revolution summit with my husband who has been convinced over the years to eat far more plant based meals. I believe both of us and my son owe our health and wellbeing being to following such sage advice over the years.
I’m so deeply sorry for your loss, the greater the love the harder we feel the pain of those no longer physically with us.
Someone once said to me that every time you send out kindness, love and compassion to the world you counter the opposite. John did exactly that, even his death has left me and my family reflecting the importance of being authentic and true to ourselves. Mostly we are reflecting on how wonderful John has been and how blessed we have all been to have had him in the world. Sending love and gratitude at his difficult time.❤️

  • To John, I don’t know how you were able to remain such a gentle soul in a world rife with rampant harm but I’m so grateful to have connected myself to you decades ago when I first found your book Diet for A New America in a bookstore. I became a vegetarian after reading it and went vegan years later. Needless to say, that shifted the trajectory of my health but also my thinking. For that alone I’m truly grateful to you. Your life ever since, a constant example of love and gentleness, has continued to inspire me to quite simply become a better human being. Being a member of the Food Revolution Network this past year has allowed me to see and hear you speak regularly and I remain in awe of you. What a gift you are to all of us! Thank you for setting such an indelible example of courage, compassion, and love. You have changed our whole world for the better. Big hugs around your family’s collective heart today and always.

  • What a beacon of light for hope, faith and love. Inspiration flowed from John, because the spirit that moved him spread out to and into everyone. The power is in all of us to be awakened for action in this life journey. When we meet our maker and the question is asked “who have you served with your heart, John?”, a resounding answer of thousands, will be peeling out from many grateful people throughout the world.
John’s inspirational light energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it can transform anything.
Thoughts and prayers are with you all. 🙏

  • May you have comfort in the thought that as we are all immortal souls your father, who has left his body, will be with you still in his immortal form and in his true home which we all, eventually, return to. Lots of Love for his contribution to our world.

  • Sending out love and light to you and your family. John saved thousands of people’s lives by teaching the right things and way to eat. That torch is now yours Ocean the work continues you have the blueprint 💙💙💙

  • John has shown me that one person can make a difference.
He was a great one person, achieving highly and vastly in big circles.
I am a much smaller one person that has been inspired by John, and will proudly make my smaller diffences.
Ocean is a wonderful legacy. They must feel so blessed.
    Simply ..Thankyou

  • My heartfelt condolences to John’s family. He was truly a pioneer and a light for many.
He was a sincere and devotional man.
His legacy will no doubt will continue.

  • Sending you all my heartfelt considerations on the loss of a Great man who lived a truly purposeful life and who’s commitment to love, life , food and educational videos has left a legacy that can be enjoyed by Many future generations

  • Thank you John for your meaningful life. I stand in wonder how somebody I never met in person could have such a gigantic impact on me, although I live on the other side of the planet. Yet, I know how important your voice was for the plant based movement that has helped me with my own health struggles.
John, your ripples will continue to radiate trough the lives of people.
    L O V E.
    My condolences to the family.

  • I didn’t know John but I feel very sad at the news of his passing. Please accept my condolences. What a unique and great man. What I received from him always touched my heart, and inspired me to know more and to do better for my own sake and that of others and the world. I am so happy that Ocean is continuing the journey that his father started.
He has his father’s heart and integrity. With love ❤️

  • While we mourn the loss of John, an extraordinary soul, we find comfort in knowing that John’s legacy will live on every life he touch, and every person he inspired will carry forward his mission
Forever grateful to John, Ocean, and the team. God bless you

  • The world has lost a great man! He was a caring, passionate and loving man. I always loved listening to him, his soothing voice & calmness mesmerized me. Condolences to Ocean and all his family & friends. May he rest in peace x

  • Dear Ocean and family, thank you for this wonderful tribute to John. It was really touching to hear so many men in the video say ‘love you’ to John, a testament to the depth of feeling he was capable of arousing in those who knew him, or were touched by his presence. I would like to add my voice and say ‘I love you John and all that you represent. I know Ocean will continue what you started. Rest in peace.’ Deborah from Wales, UK

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to John’s beloved family and friends. Please remember that death is not the end but merely a transition with John now enjoying perfect health along with the joy, peace and love he experienced on the Earthly plane.

  • My sincere condolences,
    Marijke Paulusma, Almere the Netherlands

” Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
    Unseen, unheard but always near
Still loved, still missed and forever dear.”

  • My heart is sad at the passing of this wonderful man and a tear trickles down my cheek at hearing of his passing but his legacy will continue for years to come. Xxx

  • My love and sympathy go out to you Ocean and your family. Your father was a very special light in this world. He will be greatly missed.

  • I loved all his books and just the way he spoke. It always inspired me to try harder. He was an amazing man with such a beautiful soul❤️

  • It is so hard to let the physical manifestation of what we love go, and my heart breaks for John’s family. The disappearance of such an enormous physical presance would create an empty vortex that will take time to heal.
I have the greatest appreciation for John for the knowledge he shared, and for Ocean and All Family who, in spite of personal pain, still share the message with the community.
Thank you to Everyone who chooses to change the word.
    The torch has been passed…

  • IF EVERY HUMAN BEING ON THIS PLANET WERE LIKE JOHN ROBBINS WE’D HAVE HEAVEN ON EARTH.SINCERE CONDOLENCES.DD.

  • John entered my life through “Diet For A New America” and never left! His words resounded deeply with my own beliefs and gave me strength when I seemed to falter. Having faced health challenges in my own life, I know how support, whether a kind word or even just a smile, can make a huge difference. John taught me about kindness and to stand for what I believed in…I am so grateful for his life. May he be blessed as he continues on his journey…And my heartfelt condolences to Ocean and his family.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful tribute to John—such a brave, loving, and wise man! He’s impacted my life profoundly, not only through his own work, but through the work of those he’s influenced. My condolences to his family and friends. May John’s love and light shine through us all.

  • I have followed the Food Revolution now for several years and it always informs and inspires me. It refreshes my commitment to a healthier life. John’s voice, knowledge and spirit will be greatly missed. I’m sitting here crying as I read this memorial. He has touched my heart. Deepest sympathies to his family. Thank you for carrying on his work, passion and legacy.

  • Much saddened by this and very grateful that I found the Food Revolution years ago. Ocean and family will be in my thoughts…..losing a father is very hard. What a beautiful soul was John and what a gift he gave the world. Tears of joy were shed reading his letter and he certainly left this world a better place.

  • I am sure this special human being will continue to be a special heavenly being. I never really had much money to invest in your books but have gained much from listening and feeling of your sincerity, to make me do what I can with what I have. Thank you for being you x

  • I was shocked and saddened, as I had no idea he was this sick.
A deeply honourable, honest man with the dedicated wish to help people live in harmony; with nature, our bodies and each other.
I have been living better and healthier for decades now, following and keeping up with his knowledge and the new discoveries towards health that he so happily shared.
Let us never forget all he gave to us, and honour him by continuing his work, and by living in this healthy, respectful, loving way.
    Thank you and farewell.

  • Having watched the Food Revolution Summit for a number of years and really connected with John’s presence and message, I am deeply saddened by this sudden news and send you all my deepest sympathy and condolences – you are very much in my thoughts. I will miss John each year at the summit.

  • Thank you John for all your amazing work, your presence and compassion. You will be missed.
Much love to all your family 💕

  • Thankyou for the blessing you both brought to my life. The info on healthy eating and living has been wonderful for me and my family. As a member of Whole Life Club i have learned so much. My deepest condolences to you Ocean and family.

  • Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

  • Dear Ocean and family of John Robbin’s,
I am so very sorry for your loss. May John’s memory be a blessing for your family. Thank you for your kindness, and reaching out to so many of us.

  • I came across John’s work in 1993, when my elder daughter was just 6 months old. His wisdom, his compassion and his ability to inspire us and thousands across the world to learn and walk the a path of wellness was amazing. So thank you.
    Wherever you may be John,
    May You be Happy
    May You be Peaceful
    May You be Liberated!

  • Thank you John for not giving up on us. I am forever grateful that you came into my life. Peace be with you.

  • Thank you John for showing me a whole new way of living. Though I’m not fully there yet, it’s a journey well worth taking.

  • Dear Ocean, It’s with much sadness that I received the news of your dad’s passing.
He was a source of inspiration on many levels and brought so much to our lives.
You are in my thoughts along with your family in these difficult times.
It is but a passing from one state to another, and even though we may miss John, he is still with us.
I am reminded of a poem attributed to William Blake: The sailing ship. May it bring you a little comfort.

I stand up on the beach.
A sailing ship passes by in the morning breeze and goes to the ocean.
She is beauty, she is life.
I look at her until she disappears from the horizon.

    Someone next to me says:
    “She’s gone!”
    Gone? where?
Gone from my sight, that’s all…

Her mast is still as high,
Her hull still has the strength to carry her human load.
Her total disappearance from my sight is in me, not in her.

And at the very same moment when someone says “She’s gone!”
There are others who, seeing her coming up in the horizon and coming to them
Exclaim with joy: “Here she is!”

    This is dying.

  • I feel blessed to have lived in the time of John Robbins. He illuminated our lives and our possibilities, he showed the power that lies in one person who goes against the tide. His calming and reassuring presence stays with me. I remain grateful. My condolences to Ocean and all the family and friends..

  • A Bright Light has left this world but in leaving he’s left us all a wonderful gift a love for all life that transcends the pain in this world!

  • 2 People started the Food Revolution and what a whisdom and inspiration it gave to so many. We can’t thank John enough for what he believed in and what he started so many years ago. The mild way in which he proclaimed his message, he preferred to inspire rather than to condemn, made that people wanted to listen. Thanks for being a helping guide and thanks Ocean, for continuing this path and being a beacon everytime we need a helping hand. Love and strenght to you all.

  • It is with much sadness that I read the news of John Robbins passing and felt moved to write the following…

John’s passion, knowledge, caring and commitment filled me with hope for the future. His bravery, humour and love lifted my soul.

Sending heartfelt gratitude and love over the pond to Ocean, the team and his family.

May he rest in peace now. 🪷

  • Thank you Ocean for sharing your grief, sadness and your Joy. John was so helpful in my transition to WFPB and I value all his loving words dearly.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. The entire Robbins family will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days and months ahead.

  • Thank you John for being my teacher and my hero. You have left a light in the world that can never be dimmed. A life well lived and well loved…

  • The world has lost yet another beautiful man, in and out. My heart is grieving. Rest in peace John.

  • Ocean, family, friends you have touched my life even saving it. Thank you so much for helping save many lives worldwide. My sincere condolences to you all. Prayers to give you strength. With love, light, compassion all can heal. Walk the beauty path in all you do.

  • My male cousin also had the same problem and died in his late 70’s. Some people called him a health “freak” as he was strict with what he ate and what he used to cook with and store his food in. That might be why he survived so long.

Ocean, you and John set me on track for a better life when I needed help and I thank you both so much. I purchased some of your books and find them helpful.

My sincerest condolences to you all. I only knew John through watching and listening to your series of the Food Revolution Network and was most impressed with him.

    God bless you all.

  • Dearest Ocean, my deepest sympathies are with you at this difficult time. Your dad was a trail blazer and millions have benefited from his knowledge and contributions. May you continue his beautiful legacy. Best regards always, Dennis James

  • We need more leaders in this world filled with the empathy, compassion, love and kindness that shone from John. May his goodness spread throughout the world. X

  • Very sorry to hear your news, your father made a significant and important contribution, changing lives, improving health, making everyone more aware of truths and helping to create a better world.

  • John’s book “Diet for a New America” helped me make diet choices in 1991 that greatly extended my life! Thank you John for your compassionate nature and your life saving message. I am grateful to have met you and I think you have set a wonderful example and left this world a better place. May you rest in peace!

  • You ARE amazing people, ennobling the highest dimension of the human being. You, Ocean, will definitely find even more inspiration, more strength, more joy in the efforts dedicated to the real, authentic progress of the human condition: the flourishing of the spirit in the properly cared for “temple” that hosts it, the body&mind. God bless you and all your dear ones!

  • A shining beacon in this sometimes desolate, dark, uncompassionate world – John’s legacy will live on for decades 🫶🏻

  • Both, you Ocean and John have been a comfort for me: finding integrity in a world that is the way it is today. One can loose hope without finding people who love and respect our God given lives. I ‘met’ you while healing from cancer. I was grateful. Keep it up; let’d all do that and let’s keep that prayer in our heart and thank and honour God, who gave it all to us , His so beloved children. Let us be blessed.
To you Ocean, I wish you so much comfort in your grieve. God is very close to people who suffer deep sorrow, so it says in the psalms….comfort for you and all of you who will miss your father dearly.

  • I have only known you for a short while but you are the most inspiring man I have ever met, and the memory of you will continue to inspire me and thousands of others for years to come. So much gratitude and love. Deepest sympathy to your family.

  • John Robbins’ life and work have offered such clear guidance for those, who like me, have strived for health and wellbeing by making the right life choices. What inspired me most was the broadness of the FRN vision which supports the Science that demonstrates that if we eat the “fruits of the Earth” we will live better, healthier and with more joy; that the hedious suffering of animals as our food source is not necessary ; that the richness of the Earth is here for all species to share; and that the variety, deliciousness, nutritiouness and beauty of a plant based lifestyle truly can help to save us all. Thank you. RIP.

  • John has left a lasting legacy to his family, friends and the world which will make him live on and help people for a long time to come. Love to the family for your loss and thanks for all I have learnt from John and FRN. Maggie

  • Words are not enough to say how deeply saddened I am by John’s passing. You are all such a beautiful family and a true inspiration for everyone and may the legacy of your family’s compassion live in us all.

  • John has a beautiful, eternal soul. I admire and respect John and feel blessed to have known him through FRN. I appreciate his kindness and compassion, he lived a wonderful life and has left a beautiful legacy. My thoughts are with his family and friends, he will be missed by many ❤️

  • Beloved John Robbins,
You lived love and courage and wisdom and compassion. You brought so much light into this world. I am so deeply grateful for everything. Sending you Love sweet Ocean and Family. More love, less pain- forever and always.

  • John and Deo Robbins truly were revolutionary pioneers, forging a path through the wilderness of a society hell-bent on institutionalized, profit centered progress and pre-packaged health … to survive in raw harmony with earth and elements, growing their own food, and building their lives from scratch – seeding a wave of life-centered living that carries us ever more deeply into genuine health and well- being.

Condolences now to Deo, to his beloved son Ocean, and the whole family in this transitional time of his passing – and what auspicious timing it is!! Deep thanks to you John, for guidance, inspiration and for the legacy you have created – you walk with the Angels now … blessings and peace all ….

  • A beautiful soul, radiant inside and out, whose kindness and love touched countless hearts, has left this world, leaving a legacy of love and light. To his cherished family, may you find solace in the enduring warmth of his memory and strength in the love and light he shared 🤍

  • Dearest Ocean, you already know your dad was a remarkable guy who fully lived life. His and your sharing of the healthful mission I have found life-changing in a truly positive way. I’m saddened by his passing but profoundly thankful for his being and yours. Celebrate and mourn, take time for yourself and the family. John’s life work is nothing short of revolutionary.

  • You are an amazing human being and have impacted upon millions of lives.
Thank you for everything you have shared and for consistently providing the evidence to corroborate!
Your journey does and will for ever more LIVE on.
    We all love you x
    Heartfelt sympathy for your family.

  • Dear Ocean , your father’s life was and is a gift . I remember his conversation with the pig-farmer .
His spirit lives on as long as we cherish his memory – His memory is a blessing . And so are YOU .

  • In 2016 I made a special trip to Breitenbush from Dubai to see and meet my top food hero, John Robbins, at a FRN retreat. The photo taken of him and I is one of my most cherished photos as it immediately brings to mind how intelligent and kind he was and how much I enjoyed learning directly from him when we were paired up in one of the exercises.
What a pivotal role he played in making the world aware of the linkage between diet and health of both an individual and the world! I feel an immense sadness but I also very much celebrate his life and legacy now carried on by Ocean and others. May John rest in peace!

  • I stumbled across the food revolution 5 years ago and have followed you both ever since. You have made a profound difference in my life and family.
I send the family deep live and when I was in the depth I’d despair at the loss of a lived one someone said to me, *death is just a horizon that we can’t see beyond.” My deepest condolences Jeanne

  • Ocean, you and your father only came into my life 18months ago, but had a profound affect on me and my life. Your father, John came across firstly and such a peaceful, loving human being and secondly as such a knowledgeable person. His love of nature, animals, humans and indeed the world as a whole shone through him. I can hear his voice now, clear, concise and calm. The world will be a poorer place for his passing but richer for the impact his life has had, the messages he has given us and his legacy which lives on through you and the team at FRN. And what a legacy.
My condolences to you, your family and all at FRN.
    Rest in Peace John <3

  • I can’t express how deeply saddened I am by the loss of your father. He was a truly special man who helped so many people myself included. His legacy will live on through the remarkable work he did and the lives he touched. He inspired countless individuals facing serious illness with his courage, compassion and determination. My love and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time

  • I am deeply saddened go learn of you father’s passing Ocean and family. He is an amazing man that has given so much of himself to the make the world a better place by sharing his knowledge, love and wisdom and helping others. His legacy will live on! God Bless you all

  • So sorry to learn the news. Condolences to Ocean and family. John was a courageous pioneer and his teachings on health and wellness live on in light and wisdom for all to learn from. Thank you Ocean for your continued inspiration.

  • Thank you for sharing your grief with honesty and integrity. We will be thinking about you at this sad time of your families transition.
I have often referred to your father when people asked me who my leading lights were in health and nutrition.

There are very many health and life coaches of much younger out there, but show me a 60 something who has been walking the walk all their life and is in vibrant health, that was your father.

The recording that he made earlier about his journey where he related the relationship that he had with his father touched me deeply, I mulled over it for days after hearing it.

My abiding memory that I will take to my grave of him
is of his love for you Ocean , and your lovely Mother.
His delight and pride in watching you parent your children with patience and love,
his patience with his father and commitment to helping him navigate his health and emotions near the end of his life.

    What a man !

You are a lot like him.

    Abundant blessings

From Bernadine 74 years young from Yorkshire England.
Very pleased to be witness to your life.

  • Thank you so much, John for the work you did and deep compassion that you held for both humans and animals❤️

  • I am sharing in your celebration of this man’s glorious legacy. My heart and prayers are with you ❤️ in your time of both loss and celebration.

  • Dear Robbins Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn about the passing of John Robbins.
His words, his courage, and his vision have had a profound impact on my life.

John’s books and message were part of the beginning of my own journey toward a plant-based lifestyle — a journey that has transformed not only the way I live, but also the way I guide and inspire others in my work as a physician. His story opened my eyes, and his integrity moved my heart.

Today, I do my best to carry forward his message: that food can be a powerful force for healing — for our bodies, our communities, and our planet. I am forever grateful for the seeds he planted in so many of us.
Wishing you strength and peace during this time.

    With heartfelt condolences,
    Jamila

  • A tremendous thank you for his courage, wisdom and care for others. I have been forever changed in my body, mind and overall health because of the lessons I learned from your father and you. Right now, my kitchen is filled with groceries I just purchased that are on the food lists and recipes you both have share. Water sits at my bedside and on my desk. His teachings are embedded in me and I am so grateful. He will never be forgotten. Prayers and condelences to you and your family.

  • I’m sad to hear the news of John’s passing. He was one of the greatest men of all time. Imagine one person having such an enormous effect on the entire world! I have been listening to FRN for years, and the respect that Ocean and John had for each other was so evident. What a huge impact John has had in healing the world, one person at a time. God Bless you and your family. ❤️

  • So sad for all family and friends. He will be always missed ..also by all those who benefited from his amazing kindness and beliefs 🙏

  • Dear Robbins Family,

    Sincere condolences for your loss!
My prayers goes out to you as well as my gratitude for all the wisdom and inspiration I have found here on Food revolution network.
I believe that the best thing we can do is continue Mr. John’s legacy in living a healthier life on a healthy planet.

    Sending you my love,
    Julia

  • I am really sorry to hear of your dad’s death, but he lived his life so beautifully, a good man and one who knew the purpose of healthy food. It’s a pity the whole world can’t do that, instead of the rubbish some people have to eat through no fault of their own.
    Love and regards

  • Oh, what a beautiful soul and inspiration John Robbins was and is. I will always remember his voice and insightfulness. Sending love and light to you, Ocean, and your family. May you take comfort knowing that so many people were positively impacted by your father. I loved listening to the two of you together. I felt your joy and love.

  • I watched this beautiful tribute to John as tears streamed down my face. My heart goes out to all who have loved this great being John Robbins. What an incredible light in this world, and example of the power of love. Much love to you Ocean, and to your Mother and the rest of your family. I cannot explain the sadness I feel over his passing; yet do believe that this is not the end. His kindness resonates deeply with my soul. May you have peace, and comfort and know that you are loved.

  • Dear Robbins Family,
Your husband, father and grandfather John has made such an impact on me and my family. I have loved learning from him through the Food Revolution Summits and his book Diet for a New America, and many video interviews I have seen. I could feel his love and concern for others and our planet and all life from the first time I listened to his voice and message. I am 61 now and my wife and I and our daughter and son-in-law and our four grandchildren are all living a WFPB lifestyle now since 2019. I only wish we had learned of John Robbins work earlier. But we are so blessed because of following to the best of our ability in his teachings. We love his teachings that have helped millions to improve their health and the health of our planet and all living things. May God bless you all. I too believe our spirits live on in the next phase of life and we will be able to meet again as life moves on. With love to you all,
    Bruce

John’s story was one of such bravery and courage, he lived his life with honesty and integrity, his message not only resonated with so many but has had a profound impact on the direction and health of so many. He will be much missed, but as you say Ocean, he has passed on the torch and his work lives on through you and others. With gratitude, Suzi

  • Thank you, John Robbins. Although I’ve been pescatarian for years, it was only through FRN that I really began to understand and gain knowledge of the importance of plants in our world. I am now 80% plant base and because of your teachings I know I will get To the 100% mark very soon.

  • Awww Ocean such sad news . Yes you are right a shining light . I feel your pain as I was only 15 yrs when my dad passed. I will keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers especially this Sunday as it’s Father’s Day here . Love to you and your family. Barb 🙏🥰😘

  • My heartfelt condolence to your family for the loss of your beloved one. I’m so glad I found you all and am part of the food revolution network and can continue watching the episodes with him and follow his inspiring path. As Ocean wrote: we are standing in his light that will shine on.

  • Dear Ocean and family
Thank for sharing such heartfelt details about your dad. It is truly inspirational.
My condolences to you and the family in this time of profound loss.
May his soul rest in peace.

  • As a follower of The Food Revolution I was shocked to learn of his death.
I am a fan of his books and values, and he has made such a valuable contribution to this world.

  • Dear Ocean, the rest of John’s Family, and the Food Revolution Network Team,
I echo the many, glowing sentiments made already, by other grateful people, for the great contribution, John, Ocean and Team have made to improving the health of so many. May you continue to live in good health and keep spreading John’s insights in how to live longer and more healthy.

  • Ocean, my dad (John) too passed away recently, his body was very frail and he needed to leave. Like you I am bereft with grief however, there is this immense gratitude and joy for his life, his love and our relationship. Our dad’s physical bodies have left and that leaves such a deep ache inside that is hard to navigate, and whilst we can understand the process of death and acknowledge it, it doesn’t prepare you for the longing for your dad, to hold him and just simply be near him. Grief rises up like a wave that can’t be contained. Let all that grief out, those tears are little message of love that will help his spirit in it’s journey. Much love to you and huge blessings to your wonderful dad.

  • John was truly an inspiration—a life well-lived with honor, purpose, and love. As someone his same age, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the path he walked. His lifestyle and example have inspired me to live as fully and authentically as possible.

My heart and prayers are with you, my friend. I will carry the baton forward—with Ocean and our community by my side—honoring John’s legacy in every step. His light will continue to guide and bless generations to come.

  • I am very sad about John’s passing. I was not done with John yet. He loved my memoir and inspired me to re write it. I was in process. John and I worked together all through the 90’s. My self and my partner, Todd Winant, were the co-directors of The Healthy School Lunch Program with EarthSave International. This was the organization that John started as a result of the popularity of his book, “Diet For A New America”. We worked together for 6 years, and remained colleagues all these years. John, Deo, and Ocean, I love and cherish our lives together. You did wonders for us all. I am so grateful for the significance you provided for me in my life! You helped me put meaning that inspired my life forever. I love you, John Robbins.

  • John and the Food Revolution Network opened my eyes to so much valuable information about food as medicine for me. I am forever grateful for all that he has done to change and improve our mindsets for the best health possible. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family. May his memory and incredible work live on in all of us for a better world filled with understanding and health for all.

  • Thank you John, you’re like a flashlight shining your light in dark places so we can all see. You’re always one step ahead of us, this time too, but we’ll get where you are now eventually, so you can be our guide and teacher there too. All the love to you, Ocean and the rest of your family.

  • John awakened many people around the world, including me, to the power of food and the importance of treating animals with respect, guiding us to become warriors for a food revolution. Without him, how many animals would have been sacrificed? How many people would have fallen ill? How much more bad food would have been produced and consumed?

He was a beacon showing humanity the way forward, a great leader who lived his entire life as a model of that vision.

I pray and bless the Food Revolution Network and Ocean, John’s soulmate, partner, and his son, to thrive and continue his mission.
With respect and love for John and Ocean.

  • Dear Ocean, you and your family have my deepest, heartfelt condolenscences on the passing of your dad. I met all of you last year during the Food Revolution Summit, and I was so impressed by your dad’s humanity, humility, dedication and compassion…simply a beautiful soul! I was deeply impacted by him and will be forever grateful for all that he did to improve my life and the lives of others. May he rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his spirit live on in every life that he touched, especially in yours, Ocean. Thank you for sharing so much of him with us. The world will be forever blessed by him! Sending you much love, gratitude and prayer.

  • Thank you Ocean and family for sharing this information at what I expect is a most challenging time. Unlike many, I never met John (or indeed any of the Robbins family) but have a vicarious familiarity through the activities of the Food Revolution Network. Beyond the clear and wonderful health and environmental legacy John built through his life (and let’s not forget just how much courage and conviction that must have taken for both him and Deo), for me the greatest legacy is the shining example of wisdom and love John exhibited to his family, friends, all beings (whether human or otherwise) and the planet as a whole. In particular it is the demonstration of profound love between John and his immediate family – so copiously returned as a result of the natural ease with which it flowed – that I, a stranger, most treasure. I will forever be grateful for such visibly apparent love being demonstrated so beautifully.

I’m minded of the closing words of Maya Angelou’s When Great Trees Fall:

    They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
    better. For they existed.

  • I first learned about John Robbins almost 40 years ago when I was first getting interested in nutrition after attending college and majoring in dietetics. I was so disappointed with the education I was receiving regarding nutrition – it was not about nutritious food at all. I started trying to find other sources of information and came across his articles and have continued to follow his information and resources throughout the years. His books, food revolution network and annual summits have inspired my journey in health. I have shared his information with so many people to help them get healthier. — I will so miss him! Rest in peace John

  • Truly, I identify with you, dear Ocean, as I just lost my wonderful, amazing Daddy, who recently passed at 104 years old. To me, as with you, my Daddy was the best Daddy for me in the whole world. I weep in sorrow daily, as I miss him so very much. Love to you and family.

  • John Robbins – you emanated Light and wisdom, love and compassion, hope and joy…
Thank you for shining your light in our world.
Thank you for making it a better place!
Thank you for your legacy that lives on with Ocean, your family and the Food Revolution.
You are and always will be a bright star.
    Shine on!
    🙏🏼

  • Oh no 😟😞💔!!! My condolences to Robbin’s family.
He was a visionary!! He was ahead of his times!!
    Rest in peace friend!!!
    You’ve done a lot!!!!
    The world will miss you!!!!

  • John Robbins was a truly inspiring person with such love, compassion and knowledge and respect for all. He truly cared that we all live a life of good health and with gratitude for others. He will be missed by all. May the angels be with you John.

  • It was many years ago that I first discovered John Robbins’ book, Diet for a New America. It was a revelation to me then, and remains for me one of the most inspiring books I have ever read — clear, concise, simple knowledge that completely changed the way I looked at food, health and nutrition. Thank you, John.

  • It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of John Robbins, a man of deep compassion, love and justice and a hero to me, to our planet, to humanity and to our animal kingdom. His life’s work leaves a magnificent and lasting impact on our world. My heart is full of gratitude for the courage of his convictions and the legacy born from them. Well done, dear John, well done. To Deo, Ocean, Michele, River and Bodhi, my heart grieves with you and I send you love. While John’s earthly body is no longer, may you find much comfort in knowing that his beautiful spirit, his incredibly bright light, will never dim and lives on in and through you. May the peace that surpasses all understanding be yours and may you be blessed with special touches of his presence in the coming days.

  • John, I have two copies of your book Diet For a New America. I was so moved by reading it that I bought another copy. I rarely have doubles of anything. I reflect on all you have done for me, and it is immense. Imagine the impact you’ve had on the world. You were the one who helped me understand the compassion and love of eating to live. I was a college athlete ten years ago with health problems and someone introduced me to the Food Revolution Summit hosted by you and Ocean. It quite literally saved my life. There is so much to say. You are loved and missed.

  • So sorry for your loss. I’ll forever be a disciple of Johns. I was diagnosed with PPMS 25 years ago & his diet advice helped me go from being unable to walk properly & being medically retired from work… to being 55 years old, healthier than ever… & incredibly, back working in a really physical job. God bless, & thank you so much.

  • My deep condolences to Ocean, the entire Robbins Family, and the Food Revolution Family. It was quite sad to hear the passing of John Robbins. We lost a beautiful soul way too soon here on Earth. Been following FRN for about 10 years and have made many food and life changes by following FRN movement. RIP Mr John Robbins. You will be missed dearly. Thank you for sharing your health challenges with PPS. It hit me close to home. Your legacy will be with us forever

  • Ocean, I have been a fan of you and your dad since I started my food revolution several years ago. I love the story of your dad’s journey. I know that you know this already but will write it here regardless, we are all made of energy and energy never dies, it just changes form. Thank you for doing what you do and thank you for allowing aspace for all of us. Sending love and light to you and your family

  • He lived a life of love and service ❤️
    Such an amazing man.
He will live on in all of us.

  • I was very saddened to learn of John’s passing two days ago! He was a giant in his own right, and his love, compassion, and knowledge will live on through his widespread work, and of course through his son, Ocean.
My love is with you, his family, as you grieve his passing!
    ❤️

  • What an inspiring human being you were, John. Thank you for all you did, all you were. Thank you for your amazing legacy which will live on. Blessings to all your family.

  • Thank you SO much John for giving us and all the animals SO much. You changed my life when
Diet For A New America first came out.
    All My Love 🌈🙏❤️

  • Watching a few webinars of Food Revolution Network was one of the most educational and inspiring things I’ve done in life!
Thank you very much John Robins for your amazing life changing work!
    What a beautiful legacy!
    RIP 🌱💚🙏🏼

  • I was early influenced by your father’s philosopy and writings and have been a vegetarian for 4+ decades.

  • Dear Ocean and family,
So sorry for your loss . Your dad was a very special person and will be greatly missed by all . Thank you so much for carrying on his legacy .

  • May you find peace in your memories of John and courage and strength in continuing his life’s work. What a blessing he was to all of us!

  • John’s work and his own story have inspired me on my journey to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am so on board with what I’ve learned from the Food Revolution Summits and owe much gratitude to John and Ocean for bringing this info to us in such a loving and compassionate way. I was touched when I heard John share that he has PPS and again when he shared at the end of this past summit. Thanks Ocean for sharing the news of your beloved father’s passing and for this memorial page. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family.

  • I’m so sad to hear of John’s passing. Reading “Diet for a New America” over 20 years ago changed my life. I will be forever grateful.

  • A truly inspirational, memorial video Ocean. Thank you for sharing it with me, in this tragic time of your father’s passing into the Light of God’s Love for you.
May the Light of your Father’s Love always be with you.
    RIP

  • What an amazing man! He had such dedication to healthy living and has inspired me to try and help others be healthier through better eating. Thanks John for your amazing tenacity to persevere when the world was not in favor of the importance of your message. Your legacy will help SO many people. You will be sorely missed. Many blessings to the Food Revolution and all the inspiration they provide for all people.

  • Winston Churchill gave an immortal quote after The Battle of Britain. I definitely think that John championed its values daily. He lived by this quote his whole life championing and advocating that healthy nutritional food is everybody’s birthright. If this is not the case then it certainly should be. Everybody and everything living on this planet would be far better off, by not only practicing good plant based nutrition, also actively advocating for it. Unfortunately there are too many splinter groups instead of one united group all advocating for better plant based food production, using less water, no pesticides, grown organically, being carbon neutral and replanting all the excess land with all kinds of vegetation native to their environment to create and sustain a better and cleaner planet for all future generations. Water is a valuable life source, but air quality is of equal importance and without air we are totally dead. The Food Revolution is a tiny but vital cog in this world of wheels. So, Ocean, you followed John in very many ways. My question to you Ocean, Can You Fill Such Big Shoes? Johns’ passing leaves a Massive Void, that you have been groomed to exert every endeavor to fill. There is an only one true answer to my question and that Is “Only Father Time Knows.” We are all Gods Creatures and He and only He knows when our time has come to pass. John Robbins and he will forever have a place in our Hearts, Minds and Souls. His Pain and Suffering has Gone and May he Forever Rest in Peace. God Bless

  • My heart goes out to Ocean, his family, John’s wider family and friends
The world has lost a special man, we are poorer for his passing, but blessed with his lifetimes work.
Thank you for your service and knowledge, I am eternally grateful for your life, knowledge and empathy.

  • John Robbins is one of those people who changed my life forever with Diet For a New America. Over the years I realized that (my eventual) ethical veganism is exponentially changing the world for the better. Many thanks to John for his brave example of choosing love over money, and the beautiful ripple effect throughout family, friends, and lives on planet earth!

  • Your dad, John Robbins, lived an inspirational, tireless, compassionate, and amazing life of love!
His love was beautifully spread throughout the world and will forever nourish and protect all followers like a glove!

My plant-based exploration began eight years ago and has been a success guided by the Food Revolution!
The foods I now consume have reversed my type 2 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis – what a simple yet tasty solution!

Your dad created events featuring international experts who taught us to eat nutritious yet tasty meals that cured our ills.
He encouraged us to spread the word that we can enjoy our meals, improve our health condition… All without taking pills!

I will be forever grateful for the light he shined and will continue to share what I have learned with others!
    Gloria Nobles, PhD

  • Thank you John–and Ocean- and your family members for all you have brought and will continue to bring this world. So much caring, so much light….And now this huge mystery of death–only equalled by the twin mystery of birth. May you all navigate this time with serenity.

  • Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family and FRN team, along with deep gratitude for John’s passion and commitment that created this remarkable legacy! (As a curious side note, my father just passed this last New Year’s Eve — his name was also John Robbins 🙂

  • John an Amazing Soul who for filled his soul journey life path. His work will continue

  • HAPPY TRAILS JOHN !!!
Thank you for being who you are and you changed my life many years ago for the better..Condolences to all who loved him and to Robin and your family.. Harlan B in Honduras

  • My heartfelt condolences to you Ocean, to your family and to the FRN team. He left an everlasting legacy and impacted so many lives & I’m one of those. May You Rest In Peace John. You will not be forgotten.

  • Thank you for standing strong in your convictions John. Thank you for leading the way to look beyond the norm.
My Grandmother also lost her life to Post Polio in her 90s. It was heart crashing to see her body shutting down whilst she was still so sharp in her mind.
    All my love, Mardi

  • Please accept my heartfelt sympathy I am a big fan of the FNW I have benefited so much from the knowledge he shared. So it is good to know that you are following in his light. May you and family be comforted as Light Perpetual continues to shine on his soul.

  • Thinking of you and your family and sending much love. John’s brilliance and energy will continue to illuminate.

  • From the first time I heard John Robbins conducting an interview in a Food Revolution Summit I was hooked. Here was someone who brought so much heart, soul, and kindness to the person with whom he conversed. It was obvious that he cared as much about the messenger as the message he was eliciting from them. And what incredible messages they were. I tried to hear every one of them and get all that exceptional, life-changing knowledge. It was so exciting I’ve been spreading the word to as many people as possible.

Learning John has passed away is a real blow. The only thing that lightens the immense sadness is knowing that he left the path for us to follow and that Ocean is lighting the way so wonderfully. My heart goes out to him, his mom, wife and sons, and to all the family, friends and community members suffering this enormous loss.

  • I am so sorry for John’s passing. I have learned a lot from the Food Revolution Network Summit within the last a few years; the love, caring and wisdom from John enlightened many people in the world. His body is no longer with us, but his spirit and legacy for making the world a better place to live for all human beings are here for generation to come. I pray for Ocean and the family to be comforted.

  • One of the most amazing human beings I have ever met. He was emblematic of every single
word of beauty, kindness, caring, loving…there was much, much love in his heart. It has been an honor to have shared some time with John. I send my love to Deo and Ocean and his family during this unchartered time in your lives.
    Love, Jan and Jerry

  • Dear Ocean, John’s Family, and the Food Revolution Network Team,

What beautiful photos and video! Thank you for sharing. I am deeply saddened by the passing of your father, John Robbins, a truly remarkable human being whose vision and wisdom have profoundly touched so many lives. His unwavering commitment to creating a healthier, more compassionate world has inspired countless individuals, including me.

His light will continue to shine through the legacy he built, the lives he transformed, and the love he so generously shared. May his wisdom and kindness live on in all of us as we strive to honor his work and carry forth his mission.

With immense gratitude for his life and his contributions, and with heartfelt condolences to you and your family,

    Jacqueline Guldris

  • Rest in Peace Beloved Friend. Bless your soul always. Thank you for the Kindness and Goodness always.

  • I am deeply saddened.. heartbroken.. to hear the news of this great man’s passing. John Robbins was a great inspiration to me and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet him. I don’t think that I know of anyone who lived such an authentic life.. who spoke their truth.. who walked the talk. The legacy that this man leaves behind is one that will continue on in so many others that he inspired.. that he influenced.. that he loved. The compassion that this man had for people.. for animals.. for the planet.. for all living things.. is something that we should all strive for. And the love that this man held in his heart is nothing but inspiring.. because, truly, love is all that matters. To Deo.. to Ocean.. to the rest of John’s family and friends.. my deepest, heartfelt sympathy to you all.. my heart goes out to you. And, Ocean.. thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing the videos and photos with all of us. Your Dad did good.. and how proud he was of you! All my love to you and your family.

  • I was first introduced to John in his first book, Diet For A New America. I was inspired and motivated to improving my family’s diet. It wasn’t easy and they didn’t always accept the changes with smiles. Now many years later, all ten children and their families are doing their best to eat wholesome food and even grow their own when they can. They are all healthier than their peers and are active and instilling good habits in their children. I am the healthiest 86 year old that I know. Thanks John. Your influence is going from one generation to the next in my family.

  • Diet for a New America took me off my center. Then hearing him speak to an auditorium full of people at Rice University punctuated his message. He took us all to a different buffet. It was a powerful message full of truths and honest reflection. A vegetarian Cajun doesn’t just happen. But he started it. I am so grateful. John Robbins was a real change agent in my life.
May all of John Robbins family and friends be comforted.

  • Dear Ocean and family,
My deepest and sincerest condolences to you all on the very sad occasion of the passing of your beautiful father, John. What a legacy he has left and what an impact he has had on so many people, including myself. I know that he has passed the torch into incredibly capable hands, and that you will continue the mission.
Sending you love and prayers at this very sad time.
    Sincerely, Grace Milani, Melbourne, Australia

  • John Robbin’s – A life well lived! A true gift 💝 to humanity. May God wrap His loving arms around John and show him His comfort and peace 🕊️ 🙏
John will live on through us all as we teach and share what he taught us. 💝
My thoughts and prayers 🙏 are with you and your family Ocean.

  • He touched and improved so many lives. He was a gift to those of us trying to improve our health. May his words and wisdom carry on and continue to heal.

  • May this inspiring man Rest in Peace. What a way to live and what a legacy of love to leave behind! His son following through in the dad’s footsteps with the same dedication to the practice of the truth that food is medicine. More power to you, Ocean. I’m sure John is lighting up the realms he is in already.

  • Ocean and family, my heart goes out to you. John Robbins was one helluva of a guy! An inspiration to all! We were blessed to be able to share him with your family, thank you! Lots of love to you all!

  • Thank you John for all you gave us!
We never met in person but I always felt that you and Ocean were part of my family.
You both inspired so many people and have made a huge revolution regarding how we eat, think and live.
A few years back , by chance I heard about the Food Revolution Summit, and since then every year I’ve been attending, learning and enjoying everything you and Ocean shared with us.
You will be missed, but we have Ocean to continue the legacy.
    Again thank you!! Muchas gracias!!

  • I’m deeply saddened by his passing and am also deeply moved and grateful for his teaching, wisdom, vision and compassion. Thank you so much to John and Ocean. In loving memory of John Robbins.

  • My most sincere condolences to Ocean, his family and all of John’s family and friends who are mourning his passing. I saw John at an Expo 30+ years ago and bought his book, “Diet for a New America”. I truly admired his convictions that he believed so strongly in a better way of eating and living that he walked away from such a huge fortune. I don’t think many people would be willing to do that. I send all who are mourning John’s passing much peace and love and I hope that many wonderful memories of him serve to give you some solace. I know that he will continue to live on in your hearts and all of his wonderful works.

  • Thank you for writing the book ‘Diet for a New America’, recommended by my son’s pediatrician 35 years ago. It was a huge part of the inspiration to choose a vegetarian lifestyle, forever changing my eating choices for the better. Eternally grateful.

  • Susan So sorry for your loss of one of the most respected, brilliant, kind, thorough health advisors. I have followed your family since day one and prospered as a result.

  • My deepest condolences to the entire Robbins family. Most importantly John was a son, husband, dad and granddad and he was obviously loved by all. Secondly, he was a friend to all of us who knew him through his books and the Food Revolution work. I, personally, am so grateful to John and Ocean as well, as they have guided me in my quest to live my healthiest life and also help my family to strive for a healthy lifestyle. I looked forward to the summit every year since 2015 and really enjoyed his positive attitude and caring way of interviewing and relaying great and enlightening information every year. Thank you John Robbins for being a beacon for so many in the quest for health. You have no doubt helped to save many. Rest in love and Thank you.

  • Let me tell a brief story. A few minutes ago, I was on-line dealing with an important financial matter. I was basically finished when the lighting in my apartment flickered. Since the power was still actually on, I immediately closed the files I was dealing with to save my work. It seemed to work, and I was relieved that I had not lost all of my efforts. Since I still had power, I decided to check my e-mail. The first email was the notice from Ocean about his father’s death. I had never actually met John but his work has been very important to me thru the years. I thought that his light had just flicked for a moment as my lights had, but it was still actually there. I think this incident was a message for me that though John has flickered a bit, he really is still a light for us all. What can I say to you all but Be Well!

  • John and Ocean you have not only changed my life for the better but thousands of other lives.
From my whole heart Thank you. for the family left behind words are not enough. from my heart to yours I send love and strength.

  • John Robbins’ teachings introduced me to a new and informed way of plant-based eating, one that I continue to follow because of his and the Food Revolution Network’s offerings. What Joy that he walked the earth at this time. I am grateful to have learned from him and happy that he chose the path that brings more kindness and compassion to the world.

  • What an amazing life and beautiful person. I am grateful for the generosity, kindness and how much I continue to be inspired by the gifts he left for us. Thank you Blessed be.

  • I am so very sorry for the loss of such a great man. May he rest in peace. God bless you all.

  • His was a life well lived and his contributions will live on through the people he touched throughout his life with his ideas that transformed lives. His was a life rich with compassion. My condolences to Ocean and the rest of his family, your grief must be breathtaking difficult.

  • Wow, a giant in the world has passed to a new place. I always have more of a feeling about the things to say than an ability to put the feeling into words, but it’s with a shock of deep sadness that we learned of his passing, but also admiration for a life truly well lived. There’s no guidebook or absolute mandate given when we’re born into this world, but if I were to craft one, I would suggest one aim to make a life like John Robbin’s life exemplified. Open, caring, courageous, loving, generous and ever at work doing more of the same. Many deep condolences to the whole family. Thanks for being a super hero and a force for joy, John Robbins! You touched a lot of people and made things better. Glad to have known you via your good works!

  • John Robbins inspired me – and so many millions of others – to take responsibility for our own health and the health of the planet and our fellow species through our food choices. He was a visionary and a warrior and I mourn his loss. I will forever be grateful to him.

  • Dear Robbins family, John left this world way too soon. He inspired millions including myself for many years. Ocean and John have been a great team bringing to light the power of healthy, clean food and I’ve, in turn, educated my friends and family using the knowledge I learned from the Food Revolution Network. I pray that each member of John’s family will find peace and comfort in the days ahead.

  • My sorrow to all the family and friends of John Robbins. His leaving is such a loss to so many. I was only privileged to enter his orbit through pixels on my phone, yet his genuine and rare goodness, sensitivity, kindness and caring could tangibly be felt. His interviews were always intelligent, carefully thought out, and to the point, no time wasted. It is happy to think that some essence of him will remain in your precious video library. And Ocean has begun and will continue to fill up the vacuum left.

  • When the Food Revolution came out, I bought 8 copies and gave one to everyone in my family for Chirstmas. I am happy to say my mother is 96 yrs old, fully cognisant, fully engaged with life, vital and intelligent as ever. We eat the best organic food we can find, mostly vegetarian, and follow the healthiest lifestyle we can, despite the poisons and booby traps set for humanity in every turn we take. Thank you for being one of my first guiding lights. You will always be remembered and appreciated. Rest well, and please come back soon. xxxxx

  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here, at this point in time, where our paths have crossed. My husband and I have always marveled at the synchronicities of life, when we have been guided towards something that turns out to be a beautiful gift or “miracle” of sorts. Joining the Food Revolution Network has been just that for me. Everything you have done and continue to do speaks to my heart and soul because all of it is so meaningful, important and inspiring to others. Your work is loving, compassionate and so necessary. Over 30 years ago, my future husband introduced me to John’s book, Diet For a New America, and I remember feeling this awakening, and that I would never view our food system the same ever again. Years later I was so fortunate to be led to Food Revolution Network and continue to feel nourished by everything you do.
Ocean, thank you for carrying on your father, John’s, amazing legacy. I am filled with excitement, hope and gratitude for all the incredible uphill battles that I know you will all succeed at ~ however long it takes.
May John’s spirit lift you up every day, in countless ways, for years to come.
    With aloha,
    Nadine and Rob Light

  • Your compassion and love for all humanity and the future of this planet has been greatly appreciated. I first found you about 10 years ago while searching for some answers. It took me a few years to really grasp the importance of what you were teaching, but I’ve been all in for quite some time now.

You have introduced me to so many wonderful nutrition specialists and I have taken quite a few nutrition classes myself to have more in depth knowledge. I am forever grateful to you.

The first time I heard you say your closing prayer, I wrote it down and put it on my fridge to be reminded of the love you shared. You have been an inspiration to me.

The love and respect you shared with your son is such a beautiful thing to see. May Ocean carry on your legacy. I will be right here watching and remembering all you have done for us.

    You did good!

  • I will miss hearing the loving questions John asked – he interviewed with such compassion, understanding and curiosity. Thank you for your force of good in the world, John and Ocean!

  • I am honoured to have known his works through the food revolution 🙏🏼. He has won the race. He has done great. May his soul rest in eternal peace 💗

  • John, you made a difference that will continue to positively impact so many. Thank you so much.

  • I send you my love and sympathy on your tremendous loss. Your tribute video was fantastic and told of the wonderful, loving and caring person John was. He definetly was a light in this world.

  • My condolences to you! John Robbins was a great person and someone who will continue to inspire. Around 1990, the San Francisco Greens invited him to give a Greentalk. We had a family vegetarian potluck preceding his talk. When he spoke, everyone was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop! He mesmerized people not only because of what he was sharing, but also due to his way of being, which was so loving and so caring. And Ocean, you were there too, as a young teen who was also having your say in the world! Congratulations for carrying on the work of your father so brilliantly! I have loved watching the conversation between you both in your food summits.

  • To the family and friends of John Robbins, Please accept my prayers for your continued strength and comfort in this time of sorrow. I came to know about your legacy and the food revolution just within the past few months. This proves there is no such thing as too late for what you all have accomplished! Thank God, Ocean, that you are your Dad’s legacy in continuing what was started. Blessings to you and yours.

  • may his memory be a blessing and his legacy continue inspiring and impacting many people with vibrant and healthier body mind spirit and actions reflecting only love and compassion for any living being on planet earth

  • Ocean, my heart goes out to you. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting him or you personally, I was touched by what a loving and sincere man your dad was. Thank you for sharing with us the personal moments that you have. You and your father’s relationship has inspired me and set an example for us all. Thank you for doing your part to make this world a better and healthier place just as he has done. Wishing you God’s peace as you pass through this time.

  • So sorry to hear of your loss. And our loss. He is still here in all our hearts. Admiration for him going his own way, and for teaching us how to follow him. He changed many lives for the better, and his legacy lives on in his loving son Ocean. Godspeed.

  • The world needs more people like you. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. You will keep living through your legacy. Less pain, more love.

  • John Robbins story of his life first book inspired me to begin a life of health in so many ways. His love and work has changed the world, and I have hope that Ocean’s wonderful stewardship will continue for many years. John’s legacy will continue to help move us toward health in the broadest sense. Every choice counts. Thank you Ocean for your hard work bringing a different way of thinking and living to us all.

  • My condolences to you, Ocean, and your entire family during this incredibly tough time. Your Dad was a great man with a lot of courage to make the necessary changes for his life and the lives of many of his followers. He had a great purpose on this Earth and he leaves behind a great legacy in his son’s most capable hands. I hear the love and admiration you have for your Dad every time I’ve heard you speak about him or FRA. Prayers to you all.

  • I’m so sorry for your loss Ocean. I too lost my father a few years ago and I miss him very much. You have been very lucky to have shared your life with him until now. Prayers and blessings to you and your family. Best,
    Gabrielle

  • John Robbins was a hero. I have been following his legacy for a while, and I can’t be more grateful for what he and Ocean have given me. I send so much love to the family. <3

  • What an amazing man, teacher and human being. We are immensely saddened by the loss, but ever grateful his inspiration and for the lessons he taught us about health and about living. He will be greatly missed.

  • So very grateful for his mission and life’s work which assisted me in achieving so many of my health goals. Condolences to the entire family.

  • Ocean and family, as I sat outside under the stars tonight listening to your beautiful words, and those from so many people inspired by your dad, I could actually feel the love from millions of people around the world sailing up into heaven, straight to your dad’s soul. He is a true life example of a hero. His presence will be so missed, but his legacy is in us all to share in his honor. How lucky we all have been to know and love him in our own special way.

  • John married my dear friends Jack Winkle and Nora San Felipe. On their 5th anniversary we drove to John’s home to visit with him, his wife and meet Ocean who was about 5 years old at the time. It was a wonderful meeting I will always remember his grace and passion. He did change my life and I’m happy to be a part of FRN. Blessings to all of you.

  • My deepest sympathy to you, Ocean, and to all your family. I got to know your father through you, but is life was certainly inspiring and I’m still working at changing my diet and way of life. Thank you so much for sharing with us all that he was to you.

  • Every time I looked at a photo of John, his eyes said everything about him … kindness, confidence, peaceful energy, sincerity … a true soul. His energy and voice were so encouraging and inspiring. Thank you for your beautiful presence in the world, John, and for your dedication and commitment to your work which blessed the world. My sincere sympathy to you and your family, Ocean. Blessings to John on his journey forward.

  • When I saw Ocean’s email in my inbox, my heart sank. John changed my life back in 1987 when I read Diet for a New America. He opened my eyes to the evils of factory farming and eating animals. And to what we eat matters. I have since become vegan and an advocate for animals. I will forever feel love for and be grateful to John. My heart goes out to the family and community.

  • Dear Ocean, I am so shocked and saddened by this terrible news. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones. Please know that your Dad was such an inspiration to me and opened my eyes to many realities. Sending healing thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

  • Dear Robbins Family,

My heart is full of emotions of grief and celebration as I process the loss of one of the most amazing human beings I had the privilege of knowing. There are not enough words to ease the pain and grief you must be experiencing and it will be through the celebration of John’s life, legacy and love you may find peace and comfort.

John inspired millions of people around the world and save countless lives in the process, including mine. It was more than 35 years ago I was battling for my life and it was the kindness, compassion and love John showed that transformed my life and saved my life.

Ocean, I have had the privilege to know you for many years and you are a shining light for this world just as your father was. I know you will continue to build upon John’s legacy, while creating a legacy of your own.

I will continue to be of service to the work your father began and the torch you will now carry into tomorrow.

Sending you big hugs, love and light to ease the days ahead.

  • Ocean, we mourn with you, although I’m glad to hear John had a peaceful passing.
Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful inspirational ideas with us over so many years. The legacy and compassion of John Robbins will live on in our hearts and hopefully continue to spread through the world.
With much love and gratitude, Pediatrician Peggy Manuel

  • So sorry to hear of the loss of legendary leader in the food revolution movement, John Robbins. His book, ‘Diet for a New America’ was the catalyst for my healthy food adventure in the early 1990’s and due to his efforts and numerous other bestselling books, I am continuing my optimal lifestyle and will be forever grateful. My sincerest sympathy and thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire food revolution family. May all find continued comfort and peace in all the cherished memories of John’s life and legacy which will continue to live in the lives of everyone he inspired.

  • John’s book “Diet for a New America” was my first introduction to whole plant food eating in 1987 and it changed my life forever. I still own his cook book which he wrote with a young Ocean, “May All Be Fed”. I use it to this day and it has been so well used and loved that it is literally falling to pieces.
Thank you John Robbins for your work and your words of truth, hope and inspiration. My heart aches for your family and everyone else whose life you touched. The world will miss you.

  • Ocean, my heart goes out to you and everyone in your family. Both your father and you mean a lot to me. I will always remember an answer you gave to me last year during your health summit. I’ve watched several videos with you and your dad. I subscribe to the FRN. I’ve read some of you and your Dads books. Stay strong, keep the faith, and perhaps I’ll meet you here in Panama where I am now living or perhaps in the US when we are visiting there. Eat healthy, exercise well and stay strong.

  • My deepest condolences to the entire Robbins family during this time.

What an inspiration John Robbins is! He will be missed by so many and will live on in his wonderful teachings, and wisdom that he shared with the world.

  • When I saw Ocean’s email in my inbox, my heart sank. John changed my life back in 1987 when I read Diet for a New America. He opened my eyes to the evils of factory farming and eating animals. And to what we eat matters. I have since become vegan and an advocate for animals. I will forever feel love and be grateful to John. My heart goes out to his family and the community.

  • What an inspiring life and message. May your messages touch the hearts and minds of the millions among us who are subject to a health crisis which at times lie beyond our capacity to heal or transform.
Thank you for your love and passion.

  • Condolences to the Robbins family. He followed his heart & I’m sure he has saved many lives & no doubt his legacy will continue to do so.

Thank you!!!

  • We deeply share in your loss! Your dad set me on a journey towards Food as Medicine when I retired at age 70. “Eat real food, not too much, mostly plants.” His wide-ranging impact is a legacy that will live on. Heart Hugs to all who mourn with you.

  • Dear Ocean,
I am so sorry to hear the news of the death of your beloved Dad and am grateful for his life, his work, his passion for health and helping others be healthy. I will be praying for comfort for you and your family as you process this incredible loss.

  • Thank you John for your courage to break out onto a healthy path and your compassion to help guide others to it with personal example and education including the FRN. You also leave a powerful legacy in your son Ocean who continues the mission of shining the light. Blessings on your memory and your family and thank you to the whole family for your Leadership toward a healthier planet.

  • I so appreciate all that John has given to me and the world. He made a huge positive impact on my life. My life was so enhanced by his writings, speaking and the Food Revolution Network, which I have followed for many years now. Ocean, you are such a beloved son and continuing his legacy with such honesty and grace. I will continue to support you and the FRN.

  • Diet for a New America was the first book I read about factory farms as a teen. I was already a non-meat eater, but this amazing book confirmed what I knew in my heart. I went on to raise my three kids as non-meat eaters, I wrote a book about vegan eating for kids, now in my 50s, I spread the word about healthy compassionate eating however I can. Thank you, John Robbins, and family for lighting the path for this teen. Showing a life like this is not only possible, it’s joyful and worthy of the effort and countercultural stance.

  • Prayers are with you all. Thank you for all you’ve done and will continue to do❣️ What a legacy!

  • I had the honor of meeting John as a member of EarthSave. To say he changed my life is an understatement. I know his work, love and messages will live on forever.

  • The legacy lives on in the important work that continues, however, this is a huge loss. I have learned so much from Mr. Robbins. My prayers are with the family and thank you Ocean for personally sharing this information.

  • Peace and blessings to the Robbins family.

I became aware of the Robbins name through the ice cream shops when I was just a kid. As I grew older I respected the move toward more healthy eating and have followed the patriarchs journeys for years. John touch many lives, in many ways, I’m sure, and will be fondly remembered by multitudes, myself included. Remember that death is that part of life where your loved one now only lives in your head, and your heart. He will be with you always, but in a new and different way. May you all find comfort during your time of grief.

  • Your dad was a true pioneer he will be missed by many i only have been part of the family food network for a couple of years but i have learned so much from you both. My prayers go out to you and your family.

  • I am so very sorry for your loss Ocean. Thinking of you at this sad time.

  • I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Robbins death. What a legacy he is leaving. I appreciate all of the work he has done to teach so many about healthy foods.

  • I was heartbroken reading the news of John Robbins’ passing. My condolences to all his family and friends and especially Ocean. He was such a remarkable man and did so much. The work he did leaves this world a much better place. Rest in peace, John Robbins. You will be greatly missed.

  • I am so thankful for the work of John Robbins. Heard of him many years ago but mainly am acquainted with his work and Legacy through Ocean and Food Revolution. I am so thankful that I got to see him on the last summit he did and see the movie about him and so forth. So thankful for the legacy and that Ocean carries on his legacy and adds to it as well with his own vision. May God bless you all and your family. Praying for you all.

My sincerest condolences for your loss.

  • So sorry for your loss hugs every day gets easier but he his always in your heart

  • John’s wisdom, compassion, and example have had a lasting impact on our lives. Through the way he lived, he inspired and gently guided us to infuse nonviolence and loving kindness into how we live, love, eat, and relate to the world around us.

Our deepest condolences to all of John’s loved ones.

    With deep gratitude,

  • “Not walking in his shadow, but standing in his light.” What a beautiful sentiment.

  • I am floored. I knew of his illness but did not expect his end to come so soon. My eyes were so filled with tears I could barely read the email. I feel you must be in mental shock now Ocean. You probably feel like you have crossed a bridge and will never stand on the other side ever again. In losing a parent who has been nothing short of wonderful, we suffer greatly. The day my dad died, memory after memory came flooding back to me. The second year after my mom died was even harder than the first. Both times it affected me physically as well. And then, slowly, we learn to live with our new reality. Keep your heart open and your dad will take up residence there. You may notice hearts and you may see a random bird hanging close to you now and then. He may send you a special song more than once or twice. After awhile you’ll discover he’s there with you and you can have silent conversations with him. His wisdom will continue to guide you and reassure you. Allow your grief to rage and eventually subside a bit, and keep talking to him. He will always be with you and this will become a comfort. I am sending so much love to you and your family.

  • Some of my most favorite memories growing up in the 70s was when my father would take me and my little sister regularly to Baskin/Robbins. John is a big part of those good memories, and I owe him a great big, “Thank YOU.” I’m sure he is where is was always meant to be, with our Father. Much love and many blessings to you and yours.

  • Dear family of John, I read “Diet for a New American” when I was a teenager. It stayed with me. As did the voice who wrote it. I think I felt love when I read it. Kindness.

I had a complicated childhood. John Robbins was someone who cared for others – deeply and sincerely. I felt that and it made a difference to me in my life. I am so sorry for your loss and send you my love and support as you journey into grieving and into the beautiful legacy of your loved one.

May he soar in Spirit – how could he not?

Love ❤️ Yvette Doucette, PEI, Canada

Dearest Ocean & All of your Robbins Family & Your Close FRN

It is with great sadness to read of such sad news of your dad’s passing – Mr John Robbins.

Oh what a sad loss to our world! But as you rightly acknowledged as well, what a Legend your dad John Robbins is in the Realm of Healthy Food, Healthy Eating, Healthy Lifestyle and Healthy Perspectives on looking after the world we live in – Your dad’s vision and passion has blessed me and has inspired my sharing of his vision and passion for a healthier world – people – animals – environment!

Thank you Ocean for your thoughtfulness to share with us in your sorrow for such a great loss to your Robbins’ family. It is a great loss to our world!

I am so very thankful and very appreciative of the courage your dad took to stand and walk his own path – look where it has led him! He Blessed ‘millions of people today’ and no doubt many more to come as John’s legacy of healthier lifestyles for people – and for animals – is continued by you and the global FRN.

I have loved and appreciated all that you and your dad have done to educate and to help in our knowledge to look after ourselves and our world better. Thank you John Robbins!

I loved the documentary on your dad’s life. Thank you for sharing that.

I have been meditating on some beautiful Bible verses and I think they directly apply to your dad’s life… Jeremiah 9:23-24 – Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom, nor the rich man boast of his riches, or the strong man boast of his strength. But let those who boast boast that they know and understand Me (God the Creator) that I am the God of Loving Kindness, Justice and Righteousness; and I delight to do these here on earth!

Your dad epitomises these words – your dad lived to practise and share God’s Loving Kindness, Justice and Righteousness – to People – to the animal world and to our environment. All of these things your dad has always advocated for! We have lost a wonderful man of vision, of patience and of great blessings to our world!

Ocean to you and your Robbins Family and the Close-knit FRN Family around you at this time. I want to pray these Words of Blessings for you and all of you, your family and those very close to you as you mourn your and our loss in the passing away of your Dad John Robbins.

    Psalms 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Ocean and the Robbins family and the close-knit FRN, may the Spirit of our Creator God bless you all with His healing as you experience profound sadness for your loss. May the Spirit of God bind you all together with His cords of loving kindness as you share your loss and as we too share, think and feel your loss as well.

May the Love of our Creator God bind you together in/with the wonderful memory of your dad’s Amazingly Positive and Impactful Legacy left in the world. We are blessed because of your dad’s courage to walk out his deep beliefs! Thank you John Robbins!

It is my prayer that as you walk these months and the years ahead without the physical presence of your dad, may the Spirit of the Creator God bring to your remembrance your dad’s Beautiful memory to inspire and encourage you and the FRN Team to continue on with the vision John materialised in his life time.

    Psalms 58v19
Blessed be the Name of the LORD for DAILY CARRYING your burdens; He is our Salvation. Selah!

I pray that the LORD will carry you all at these difficult days of missing your dad’s presence, his voice, his smiles and his passion for his mission in life. The LORD bless you to continue to shine forth in and with your dad’s life work of blessing the citizens of this earth.

The LORD’s Shalom Ocean & All your Family

With my deepest and sincere condolences to you for your/our loss in the passing of your Dad John Robbins.

  • His legacy of love, compassion, and connection will live on forever. An extraordinary person with such deep unconditional kindness for all living beings. He has been a true inspiration for me on how to be an absolutely outstanding human being (he achieved it in spades). We can all live out his principles every day and continue to keep his life and legacy alive. Prayers and love to Ocean, his family, and to all.

  • John may be gone, but his legacy and teachings will live on through Ocean! It’s a sad time for us all, but to Ocean I can say, “Live the love your father wanted to gift to the world! Our prayers are with you, and remember to feel “less pain, more love!”

  • John Robbin’s has been such an immense inspiration and a hero.
He helped so many and truly brought in food revolution.
I am proud that Ocean is carrying his legacy forward.
May John rest in Peace 🙏🏼

  • Beautiful story, beautiful man, beautiful family. John has left the planet a better place, even as our children face a world of growing challenges. His legacy shines through in the love he gave and the lives he touched.

  • I watched my mother suffer from so many health challenges and then pass from diabetic related issues. The heartbreak of losing her at such a young age opened by eyes to a diet that would prevent these health problems. I wanted to live a long healthy life for myself and my sons. I read “Diet for a New America” in 1990 and now 35 years later I am alive and well and able to enjoy my life with my sons and grandchildren with none of the health issues she suffered. I will be forever grateful to you. Sending healing prayers for your family and loved ones.

  • Joining the family and community in praying for eternal peace to the departed soul. May John’s ideals and the principles that he lived for keep inspiring and guiding the food revolution network from strength to strength. Om Shanti.

  • Oh what a loss for his family, all of us, and the world!! He was truly a hero, someone who made a difference in the world. What an amazing legacy he leaves behind!!! I know my family and I will continue to share and live what he taught us, spreading truth and ❤️. I am so sad for you and your family tonight Ocean!!! I send you love and strength to help all of you during this time.

  • Sincere condolences to your entire family for this profound loss. May his memory be for a blessing.

  • John Robbins was and still is a huge inspiration to me and to many, and his love and legacy will be felt for ages to come. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Ocean and all the Robbins family and members of the Food Revolution Network family. Much love and deep gratitude 💗 Sweet Rest, dear John.

  • So very sorry for your families loss and heartache. What a legacy of love he has left you! With the bombardment of information I receive regarding health and nutrition, I have come to only trust John and Ocean. Your research, and knowledge, and integrity are impeccable. I have been WFPB for several years now, and thank you for your influence.

  • What a profoundly generous life he’s lived, leaving this legacy of knowledge (true wealth) for all of us. Thank you Ocean for being the glorious heir of his wisdom that you so generously share. I can feel your heart.

  • Dear Ocean and FRN Family, Although I personally did not know John Robbins, he was beyond pivotal in helping me and my gut heal. John Robbins showed me the way and introduced me to additional practitioners to zero in helping me heal myself. It has been a long process but has been pivotal in my healing and I am beyond grateful to John and Ocean Robbins for lighting this path for me. Thank you, thank you. Ocean, I am so sorry for your loss.

  • “Diet For a New America” turned me vegan in one day in late 1988. I will be forever grateful to John Robbins.

  • With so much going on in the USA and world at large, it is now a daily battle to fight against sadness; however, as the world has clearly lost yet another wonder of a human, your dad, please know he left a profoundly amazing mark on this planet. For that, I am thankful and want you to be lifted up knowing he is daily represented by your God-given drive. From my heart to your’s, may God immensely comfort and strengthen you and your family during this time and forever.

  • He was brave beyond measure. My deepest and profound sympathy for all whose lives he touched in one way or another.

  • I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was an amazing and kind man and he and Ocean, in the Food Revolution Summit, were the ones who introduced me to the whole food plant-based way of eating and changed my family’s life for the better. It was because of whole food plant based eating, I was able to put many of my autoimmune symptoms into remission and was able to do things I never thought I’d be able to do again. My husband got off all of his medications and put his diabetes into remission, and no longer had high blood pressure or high cholesterol and lost 100 pounds. My youngest son has never been healthier and amazes his coaches and teachers with the stamina and endurance he shows in his physical capabilities.

It was after seeing this eye-opening health transformation, I decided to become a health coach so I too, could help people the way John & Ocean helped me. John influenced so many people and had been changing the world for the better. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his memory be for a blessing. We will be thinking of Ocean and the entire family during this difficult time.

  • Grateful for the many gifts John Robbins has blessed us with, knowing it’s possible for one dedicated person to change the world for the benefit os all. Thank You for your great heart!

  • My mother passed away in 2002. I think about her every day. She is always with me.

  • My heart breaks for you all Ocean. What a wonderful man-a true inspiration, as are you. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. He is in our hearts and minds. With love-always.

  • May God walk with you as you journey through grief. His physical Presence will be missed but the love he brought to us will only grow. ❤️

  • I read John’s books and watched him in many FRN Summit videos. He played a part in my becoming whole foods plant based vegan (over 3 years now). Much gratitude to John and everyone who is carrying on the work he started.

  • A tear falls as I remember how John was one of those people who guided my life. Thanks for it all and happy trails in the beyond.

  • I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing but he leaves behind a legacy that is unparalleled. His vision was extraordinary but his actions are what have touched and changed so many lives. He will be missed terribly but remembered forever with deep gratitude and respect. You were one in a million, John Robbins, and you have helped changed the lives of all who have learned so much from you. Forever in our hearts.

  • Diet for a New America changed our lives and life paths. Decades later, so has the Food Revolution Network. We honor, respect, and thank John for his integrity, courage, fortitude, and love for all beings and the planet. May his precious soul rest in eternal peace. His light will shine brightly forever!

  • John Robbin’s writings had a big impact on my life and my health/food choices. I “salute” his life decision to walk away from inherited wealth and chart another course, one that has benefited so many people around the world.

  • John’s passing is such a loss. His life lessons improved the lives of so many and his ideas will continue to benefit anyone who listens. It is always good to have a trusted source of information available and The Food Revolution Network that John founded is exactly that. May God bless Ocean and the rest of the Robbins family.

  • Food revolution was the start of my health journey, watching many of the masterclasses by John and Ocean to gain more knowledge. Thank you John 🙏❤️❤️

  • I am heartsick. John and Ocean started our journey with a plant based lifestyle after my husband had been diagnosed with cancer. You both were our heroes. I am so very sorry for your loss Ocean.

  • Very saddened at this passing. This man changed my views on food and health and changed my life massively for the better. Here in the UK I am a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and our motto is ” Service with Integrity” and I feel that John’s life embodies this sentiment; what an incredible man… to Ocean and extended family, my heartfelt sympathy but you should be hugely proud of his achievements. God bless you all. I am honoured to be part of the Food Revolution network family.

  • John’s story and books were new to me until several years ago. I was already “heading” in the same direction because of my Mom who also had PPS and was very conscientious about what she ate and what she fed us. John’s integrity and life have become a constant source of inspiration and helps me as I strive to support the beautiful people in my part of the world eat healthier and find more healing through love and healthy choices. Thank you, John, for all you mean to all of us.

  • The work of John Robbins and the Food Revolution Network has so positively impact my health in my older years. I’ve spent countless hours attending online summits and reading materials prepared by John and Ocean. John’s life was one of selfless service and his impactful legacy will live on in the knowledge of healthy living that he has provided to so many of us.

  • John’s journey has not ended as it is just beginning. So many of us continue in his footsteps and will always be grateful for his knowledge and dedication to help others achieve wellness. We will carry on his journey through his teachings and become part of a family who will help others in their quest to become healthier and a greater sense of well being. Thank you John 🥰

  • Diet for a New America is still the best most life changing book I have ever read. I am eternally grateful to him for writing this book and sharing an immense amount of knowledge in so may other ways.

  • So sorry to hear of Johns passing . He was an inspiration to all who knew him . He changed the lives of many people.

  • So sorry to hear this. John Robbins is one of my greatest heroes. May he rest in peace. Much love to the family. 💕

  • You will be missed. Always loves your gentle manner and kindness. I have been a follower since your early days and have learned so much from your dedication and generosity to help others find a kinder, more healthful life while we’re here on this planet. Though your time has now come to end, your light will continue to shine and lead the way. God bless you and your family.

  • I am so sorry and so sad. At the same time… his legacy and all the good he did is just enormous and will continue. You and your family are in my heart, Ocean. And my prayers for your comfort and hope.

  • I am deeply saddened.
You have left an amazing legacy. Diet for a New America was my inspiration and my favorite book.
Condolences to Ocean and your entire family. May you rest in peace and may your memory be a blessing.🙏

  • John’s book Healthy at 100 changed my life…. I am grateful for his stance…. for his courage to leave BILLIONS in exchange for belief that can affect billions around the planet..one of those is me…thank you for a life well lived!!! Julianne Nagle

  • It was reading John’s book, “Diet for a New America” (right around the time I took a job that had me working with animal testing labs and factory farms) that inspired me to completely eschew meat, dairy and eggs — which no one who knew me well at that time would have ever thought I’d have the self-discipline to do. That one act, empowered so much growth. Thirty-five years later that choice stands out as one of the greatest decisions of my life. I will always feel such gratitude to John for how he inspired me, and the blessings it brought. Years later after I had children and wrote one of the first vegan parenting books: Compassionate Souls — Raising the Next Generation to Change the World, I was thrilled to learn that my publisher had shared my book with John, and he wrote it an endorsement. Deo, Ocean and family I can imagine the hole his passing leaves…I hope that knowing how he touched so many other lives brings some comfort for your loss.

  • There are no words that can completely express the sadness in my heart to hear of John’s passing. What a beautiful, caring man with such great wisdom and compassion! I pray for Ocean and the family to be comforted by Holy Spirit who IS our Comforter! ✝️🙏

  • Wow, I don’t have words for this moment. John was such an inspiration to me; he transformed how I thought about food, how I cared for my body, and how I saw and cared for all living beings. It’s untold how many lives John has touched, including how many animal lives. His wisdom was beyond his time and I hope humanity can continue to learn from his wisdom for generations to come. May John rest in peace.
