Chef's Notes

Substitutions
Use your favorite store-bought cajun seasoning in place of the homemade seasoning.

If you have a favorite store-bought plant-based mayo, use that in place of homemade mayo.

Prep Ahead
Prepare the cajun seasoning ahead of time and store in an airtight container in your spice cabinet for up to 3 months.

Make the remoulade ahead of time and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Press the tofu
Make sure the tofu is drained well by either wrapping a paper towel or tea towel around it and placing a heavy object on it (with a plate underneath to absorb the water!) for 20–60 minutes. Alternatively, you could gently squeeze the tofu with clean hands (very gently to avoid crumbling) to drain. Continue to squeeze until no more water is drained.

Traditional oven directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the tofu evenly distributed on the baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven at 400 degrees F for 5–10 minutes, respectively.
