Here is an excerpt from his million+ views TED talk, “The World’s Killer Diet.”

Here are highlights from Dr. Dean Ornish’s wildly popular 2009 TED talk, “Your Genes Are Not Your Fate.”

  3. Thanks to Dr. Dean Ornish and many other medical doctors who have come to see that the way to health is nutritionally-based and not drug-based people are healthy and vital again. Some of the other doctors are, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Neal Barnard, etc. So many people have completely reversed their illnesses through a change in lifestyle – including food, emotional health, relationships, exercise, stress reduction, etc.

  4. I am reading the "Food Revoloution" I am convinced that the lifestyle advocated in John's book is the way to go. Thank you, I have now only recently been made aware of the issues around diet and its impact on health. I am sad to say that my lifestyle was far from ideal. I was 40 lbs overweight, I had HTN of 155 / 90 and had been on medication for this. At 54 I have seriously reassessed my lifestyle. I stopped drinking the 2 glasses of wine every evening, I stopped adding salt, I stopped drinking coffee and consequently drinking milk, I now have next to no dairy, removed the Yoghurt on my rolled oats muesli, I have almost removed meat from my diet, I have reduced the number of eggs I eat. I have been exercising, walking 3 miles most mornings, I am eating a lot more fruit, vegetables and whole grains. I have also reduced my portion size of my main meals. Consequently over 3 months I have lost 40 lbs and reduced my BTN to 120 / 70 and have general had feeling of well being. My doctor has been impressed and has taken me off my medication, I have not been taking this for many months. I am moving from a vegetarian to a vegan life style. Recently I have found that I have lost the feeling of well being and I seem to have a degree of "mental fog" the clarity of mind that I had experienced during stages of weight loss and times when my weight stabilized has alluded me over the last three weeks? I would really like to continue with a vegan lifestyle and would welcome any advice or recommendations. Thank you again John for providing the research, your knowledge and wisdom in your book.
